Bio and Links
Bio Photo My name is Hunter. I am 19 years old and love history. I got started researching my grandmother's side after she died. It kinda made me feel closer to her knowing more about her family.

I am also very interested in local history. I am the youngest member of the Choccolocco Valley Heritage Society. I am very active in preserving history. I have accomplished placing two historic cemeteries in Calhoun County, Ala. on the National Registry of Historic Cemeteries: Pine Grove Cemetery- 1850's, and Zion Hill (White Plains) Cemetery- 1830's.

Here is a list of the families that I am working on: Gentry, Saffold, Hughes, McClain, Taylor, Deason, Hollingsworth, Bagley, Austin, Freeman, Ponder, and Brazzell.

Pine Grove Cemetery

Zion Hill (White Plains) Cemetery

In August of 2012, I was featured in the Anniston Star for being an "Untypical Teen" of Calhoun County, Alabama. That soon lead to the article being placed in the Eastman Genealogy Newsletter, and an interview on Youtube.

A great friend of mine, Mary Ann Ferguson, passed away on Feb. 9th. She is really the one that helped me get involved in Find A Grave. She was an amazing lady that would venture in any cemetery no matter the location or hot summer weather. She was the type of person that us genealogists need to look up too. She will be greatly missed.

Reid
Hi Hunter,

In December we exchanged a few messages on a common Hulsey relative.

I came across the memorial you created for Jewel Mary Frances Reid Whiteside, daughter of William Asa & Hattie Frances (Bennett) Whiteside.

Are you related to her? She is a distant Reid relative of mine. I just sent you an edit request to link her to her parents.

Best regards,
Debbie

RE: Hollingsworths and Gentrys
Hi Hunter, so we share the Hollingsworth line and possibly the Gentry line. . .I don't have so much on the Gentry's. I can't find much information beyond my great grandmother, Maggie Gentry Hollingsworth. Is she on your tree?

Hollingsworths and Gentrys
Hi Hunter, I am a descendant of both Hollingsworths and Gentrys. My paternal grandmother was a Hollingsworth and her mother was a Gentry. I am using Ancestry.com and a professional researcher to tie myself to a Revolutionary War veteran so I can join DAR. I am eager to know if you have a family tree on Ancestry that I can view or any other genealogy research that you could send me. My great grandmother was Maggie Gentry and my grandmother was Vera Hollingsworth. Are either of these names on your tree? They were both originally from Alabama, Lawley I think and moved to Atlanta in the early 1900's, like the 40's, I think. Thanks.

RE: Pointer
The information that I am hoping for is there a map or reference as to "where" in Pine Grove Cemetery Martha Caroline Henderson/Pointer and Henry Thomas Pointer are buried. There is no markers for either of them my grandmother said. She never showed us where in Pine Grove, only said thats where they were. But now that grandmother is gone And no markers, is there ANY other stored/kept site records? We also have climbed and searched for "relative" names and empty spaces. Hoping someone has recorded in what area of Pine Grove that they rest. Thank you, Donna

RE: Clarice Borden Cobb -
Thanks for the reply. I was hoping.......

Yes, I am a descendent of the White Plains Morgans. My great grandfather was Clark Morgan, son of Caleb Garrison Morgan, son of Samuel Morgan Jr and so on.....

I also descend from the Martin's and the Watsons.

Clarice was my second cousin through her mother.

Pointer
I see that you have searched Walter D Pointer 1872 in Pine Grove Cemetery in Anniston, Ala. My g-grandparents were Henry Thomas Pointer 1877? and Martha Caroline Henderson/Pointer 1868?. They are both buried in Pine Grove with no markers! Usrey Funeral Home buried Martha in 1930 I do not know when Walter Sr died. 1944 Walter (Buster) Pointer Jr died. Iam attempting to make a Mothers and Daughters memoir for My granddaughter, who's mother (my daughter) died in 2009. Any leads or info will be greatly appreciated. Thank you, Donna email dndphillips@centurylink.net

Clarice Borden Cobb -
Hunter,

Do you happen to know if Clarice Borden Cobb's (Memorial# 15640973) husband, Milton Lafayette Cobb is also buried in this cemetery?

Kindest Regards,
