Bio and Links
Bio Photo Past President of the Mount Vernon Genealogical Society ( & author of New Copies of Old Records from Hebron CT, 1708-1875 (Heritage Books, 2011) & various articles on New England genealogy.

I have transcribed Litchfield County, CT cemeteries from the Hale Collection because I'm looking for 18th Century collateral ancestors in our Birge, Fox, Hatch, Holcomb, Hindman, Hunt, Noble, Peck, Thompson, Wilcox, & Willson lines. If you are related to other families in these cemeteries, let me know & I will transfer ownership of memorials with your surnames to you so you can add information and links. I have many other Connecticut ancestors in central Connecticut cemeteries, where I will also transfer memorials unrelated to our family.

Most of my Connecticut memorials are copied from the Hale Collection, which transcribed all Connecticut tombstones during the Depression. The transcription is not error-free, but Hale was able to read things then which are no longer legible today.

The New Hampshire entries are all from Colonial Gravestone Inscriptions in the State of NH, by Mrs. Charles Goss (1942). None are close relations of mine, so if you want to make additions or corrections, please just request a transfer.

When contacting me about a specific memorial, PLEASE do so from the Edit:Corrections & Queries tab on the memorial itself. This makes it SO much easier for me to respond quickly & accurately.

Thanks so much for her story. She is a distant relative of my husband, and I also have distant relatives lost in the witch hunts of Salem.

Edmund Hawes
Linda Mac,
Hi. I saw your post that Edmund Hawes is your ancestor & thought I would invite you to my facebook group since he is a descendant of the Magna Carta, William The Conqueror, & Charlemagne. We have a private ancestry tree which we are writing a book about that includes Edmund Hawes.

Col George Michael "Michael" SWOPE #33661219
Is SWOPE and SCHWAB the same last surname?
I ask because Col. George Michael "Michael" SWOPE you have parents as Johann George Schwab (1682 - 1782) and Anna Marie Keydel Schwab (1702 - 1782)

Thank You,

John Owen monument
On the Find A Grave Memorial for John Owen (# 14229358) at Palisado cemetery in Windsor, Hartford County, Connecticut, there is your photo of a large monument. Where is this monument? I was at Palisado cemetery this summer and I didnít see it. Can you take a close-up photo that shows the engraving?

Daniel Kelsey
Just noted duplicate 54077736 I made in June 2010 of your site 52470395 made in May 2010 for Daniel.
When burial is "unknown" it frequently happens that the site will not show up for researchers. Would you be willing to transfer your site to me?
There is so much additional info on the newer site, including the actual burial info and photos.
The Grays of my Connecticut line married into the Kelsey line at least 3 times making me many times (complicatedly) related.
