RE: Prater/ Prather Family
What is interesting is that she is buried in section 1 and he is buried in section 11... they are at opposite ends of the cemetery... go figure :/

RE: Prater/ Prather Family
Just wanted to let you know that while photographing Section 11 of Oakwood Cemetery a few weeks ago, I ran into the Lorance Family plot. I just uploaded a photo of the headstone for Leroy Alton Lorance. It uploaded below the obit I found in the newspaper a few months ago but I think it would look better if his headstone is the first photo. Since I transferred management of his memorial to you, it will not let me sort the order. But take a look for yourself and if you think the gravemarker would look better up top then the obituary below, then I think it will let you sort the order of the photographs.

Prater/ Prather Family
By the way, my husband had found this link to a website where there is a database for the Prater/ Prather Family. He mentioned that Maggie is listed in the database, but her info is not complete. He suggested that you may want to see about updating the info on her husband & children since you have all that stuff handy. Here is the link:

RE: Dorothy Nell Lorance Earnhart
Well, my husband could find tons of obits in the newspapers for Earnharts, but none for Dorothy. So, I tried a search on ancestry.com to see if anyone else had her listed in their family tree. I did not find her listed in anyone's tree, but I ended up finding her in the city directories for Denison throughout the 1950's & 1960's then her TX Death Index, then the Find A Grave memorial indicating she was buried just across the river in Colbert. Sure hope you are able to get her family linked to her :)

RE: Mattie Lorance
I posted the obit for Mattie. And, I think I may have found Dorothy Earnhart, born 1923, died 1995, buried Colbert, OK Find A Grave memorial #8014926. Check it out!

My husbands Prater is Susan Prater, who is his 2x Great grandmother on his paternal side and he has found that they came from Missouri, via Kentucky. He found a link online to the Prater/ Prather line and it is called Prather Genealogy.com.

Now, as far as the Earnhart family, there are a dozen or so buried at Oakwood so I may end up running across Dorothy Nell eventually. Will try to find obit or more info on her as well.

We live in Fort Worth, but I go visit my family in Denison every few months and we always stop by the Cemetery on our way out of town to snap a few photos. The sections there are very large, so it usually takes me several months before I can complete a section.

Anyway, hubby found an obit for Mattie Lorance just now so I will try to add it to her Find A Grave memorial.

Hi Peg, I have to give credit to my husband who found all the info on LeRoy. He is related to some Praters way down the line, and when we found a few of the Praters buried at Oakwood, he decided to research to find out if any were his kin. That is how he found the obit for Leroy. I am not sure if he has a headstone yet, as I have only been able to photograph the first 7 sections, and I believe there are 12 total. I live 2 hours away and only get up to Denison every few months or so.

Anyway, if you want, I can transfer management of his memorial to you, so you can link family members and add more to his bio at your convenience. I hold onto the memorials until I find family that can take over for me and that way they do not have to go thru a middle man just to get stuff added.

Winnifred Morgan & Larkin Ford
Winnifred Morgan Ford (married to Simeon Ford) is recorded as born in 1755. Larkin Ford, recorded as her son, is listed as being born in 1760 and/or in 1773. A 1760 birth for Larkin might be a record for Winnifred as the youngest mother in the land. From the 1810 US Census the oldest male in Larkin's household was born in 1766 or later. From the 1830 US Census the oldest male in Larkin's household was born in 1770 or earlier. Which narrows Larkin's birthdate to between 1766 & 1770. I would tend to choose 1770 just to allow his mom to have gotten to maybe age 15 . . . ? Re: Memorial# 155174005
