Bio and Links
Bio Photo I have always loved the old cemeteries. My interest in genealogy has brought me back into the cemeteries to find my roots. I love helping others to discover their past and to honor and remember those that have come before us.

Currently I am working on photographing and transcribing the cemeteries of Queens Co. and Long Island, New York. I love learning about the interesting families that lived here and I am happy to help others when I can.

Nearly all of the information for the memorials I have entered is taken from photographs which I have personally taken. In the interest of getting as many people entered as possible, I have gotten behind in adding all my photos. If you see a memorial which I have entered and you would like a photo, please request the photo by clicking the "request a photo" tab on the memorial and then drop me a line to let me know that you have put in the request. I am not automatically notified when a photo request has been made on a memorial I have created.

I welcome all corrections. I try to be as accurate as I possibly can.

RE: Megill/Reeve
Dear Dyane,
I am so thrilled that you took photos of my family's gravestones. My grandparents and parents are also buried in Cypress Hills-I have a picture of the single stone marked Megill-why my grandmother ever decided to do only one huge stone and inscribe the names on the sides, I don't know, but I have kept up the tradition. I have always meant to go back to Cypress Hills to see if I could find the other family plots, but have never gotten around to it. The other family plots are probably in the same area as the Megill/Reeve plot. I have to get around to adding the names to Findagrave. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Hance Family
I have put in a photo request for Jessie and Jennie Hance, daughters of Charles and Elizabeth Hance. In the obit for Elizabeth, it says she was buried in the "FAMILY PLOT" in the Flushing Cemetery. There were 10 Hance children, most of whom died young. Charles helped build the famous Flushing Town Hall and then served for 15 years as police captain there. Children: Charles Jr., un-named infant, Albert E, Alfred E., Minnie (Meserole), Florence (Eckhart) , Jessie, Jennie, William and another Albert E who is the only male to survive and raise a family (MY family). Charles had a father and a brother named Benjamin and his mother's name is Ann. The family stayed in one place and the parents had a huge celebration when they hit their golden anniversary so I have to believe this "family plot" could hold most of their children. Elizabeth's parents were Mr. & Mrs. William Smith, in case that name is nearby too. My family research is being shared across the USA by distant family who never knew any of their history. You will never know the extent of the benefit your volunteer work can do. Thank you for any information you can give me.

Robert Best
He is a distant relative. I remember his two brothers who were twins, Sam and Louis. One was a chemist and worked for Cuticura soaps. He wrote an essay titled "How To Give Your Money Away" that was read on the radio in the 50s, and later on - more recently. Google the title if you are interested and enjoy the essence. That same man was on the board of a fine NH college at the last of his life.

I am the "caretaker" of Robert's grave in France, even though I have never been there and doubt that I will.

I try on a small scale to do what you are doing. It makes a difference. You make a difference, I mean.

CORRECTION: Emilie M. Hallock
I just photographed Emilie M. Hallock's stone at Huntington Rural and need a correction made to the date on her memorial page. She died May 14, 1891 (not 1931). Thanks!

Hi Dyane
I up-loaded some photos for Charles and Leander E. Munroe, they were the only names that could be read. The small cemetery has a fence around the property and is always locked, and this is the only one of four headstone's that are still standing...JP
