Bio and Links
Bio Photo I have always loved the old cemeteries. My interest in genealogy has brought me back into the cemeteries to find my roots. I love helping others to discover their past and to honor and remember those that have come before us.

Currently I am working on photographing and transcribing the cemeteries of Queens Co. and Long Island, New York. I love learning about the interesting families that lived here and I am happy to help others when I can.

Nearly all of the information for the memorials I have entered is taken from photographs which I have personally taken. In the interest of getting as many people entered as possible, I have gotten behind in adding all my photos. If you see a memorial which I have entered and you would like a photo, please request the photo by clicking the "request a photo" tab on the memorial and then drop me a line to let me know that you have put in the request. I am not automatically notified when a photo request has been made on a memorial I have created.

I welcome all corrections. I try to be as accurate as I possibly can.

Memorial # 46602971 - Clara Carpenter
Greetings. I am so happy to find the resting place of my great grand aunt! Since learning about my 3x great grandfather, I have been searching for his wife & daughters to reunite them on FindaGrave through memorial links. Clara's father, George W Stiles, was a Union Soldier in the Civil War, who served in the 7th NY Heavy Artillery Regiment, was captured and died in a confederate prison camp. He had a wife and four young daughters. His family suffered greatly after his death. Clara, the eldest had to work as a brush maker to support the family. The two middle children had to be sent away to live with relatives several hundred miles away. Eventually the youngest daughter was sent to live with one of her sisters once that sister married. Clara never left her mother. She eventually moved with her mother to live closer to her sisters. Clara married a man much her senior who had children from a prior marriage. Her mother lived with them in the same house. I manage the memorial for Clara's father buried at the Andersonville cemetery in Georgia. I am still searching for the resting places of the other family members. It would mean so much to me if this memorial could be transferred so I can keep them all together under my management. I thank you so much for this picture and for consideration of my request.

Stephen Pettit is my greatgreatgreat grandfather and I found a marriage license that was singed by him and his wife Kate Mott for Walter J. Pettit who was married twice-and lived in New Jersey when he was married. So, I believe that the info is incorrect that he married Elixabeth Jane Hewlett but I cannot find any records of him marrying Kate Mott since my great uncle tells me she was a full blodded Shinnecock Indian. Any ideas would be helpful and also, I used to live a few blocks from that church way back in 1970!!!

Thank you so much, Dyane, for photographing the grave marker for James F. Sexton. It is wonderful to have volunteers such as yourself to do this work. It is people like you who make Find-a-Grave work so well. Thank you! Shirley

I noticed her grave shows Phebe but your bio shows Phoebe. Do you know if that is correct? Diane

Howard Whitney Huntington Rural
Hi Dyane,

Could you edit Howard Whitney's page (Find A Grave Memorial# 139732638) to include his birth year of 1897 and link him to his parents:
Henry Whitney: Find A Grave Memorial# 139732610 &
Frances Whitney: Find A Grave Memorial# 139732569

Thank you ever so much!
