Bio and Links
Bio Photo My dad's family settled mainly in Dunn County, with some in Barron County (Dovre Township). My mom's family all settled in Barron County. These two counties hold special meaning to me, and I am located within short driving distance for research.

My mom and I do most of our research together. One of us carries a notebook, the other a camera! Many of the profiles that we have created are family; however, we tend to add as many additional profiles as we are able to when visiting cemeteries or reviewing obituaries.

Find A Grave is a very special site. It is tied directly to, and those doing research can gets "hints" from Find A Grave. Adding profiles gives online researchers yet another resource to locate information on an ancestor.

Should you come across a profile that is a direct relation, please let me know. I am happy to transfer the profile, so long as the individual is not one of our relatives. We try to obtain photos of each stone located in a cemetery when we visit one. Sometimes it takes awhile!:)

My ultimate goal for Find A Grave is to provide a continued story for those who we have lost. I try to respond to messages and emails quickly, but please feel free to message me again if I haven't taken care of a profile update. I would like for the information that I add to be as complete as possible.

If you have any questions, please feel free to leave a message for me.

Find A Grave Memorial# 7304588
Please check birth and death dates, believe there is a typo as I don't think this individual was 170 years of age at his passing.

Thank you

Barron Co. Wisc. Silas Packard Civil War Soldier
I am a Vermont Civil War buff, and am presently working on a project to identify the last resting places of many "old soldiers" that had any ties to Vt. May I use the photo of Silas Packard that you contributed to his Find A Grave memorial site, to post on the Vt. C.W. site? (

You would receive credit for this.
Thank you for your consideration.

Maggie Brown - the wife of William Leonard Brown

Thank you for sharing the story about William Leonard Brown 1870 – 1942,

But I do believe that his wife Maggie Brown is not really Margaret Peterson, the daughter of Andrew and Mary Mickelson, that is, I do believe she rather is Magda Josefine Andersdatter Skręppen from Toten in Norway, the illegitimate child of Inga Marie Mikkelsdatter Skręppen and Anders Pedersen Sandbęk who is the brother of my great, great, grandfather, Ole Pedersen Sandbęk from Gran, Hadeland in Norway. Her mother seem to have married John Pederson short after her arrival in Wisconsin in 1881, living in Clinton, Barron, Wisconsin, then the stepdaughter probably took the family name Pederson. The mother of Inga, Johanne Johansdatter Skręppen, left Norway because her husband had died, that is the father of Inga, Magda however was only 5 years old. The family left Norway in August 1881. Magda’s father, Anders, was living and later also married and had children back in Brandbu, Norway.

Magda/Maggie left Norway in 1881:
Baptism, her name was Magda Josefine and she was born Jan 7 1876 (number 23):

Do you know where the grave of Maggie/Magda is?

Thank you.

Best regards,

Laila Sandbęk

Pleasant Plain Cemeter
Hi Sandi,
I'm transcribing the journal of Anna Hanson Joelson whose father-in-law gave a large portion of the land for Pleasant Plain Cemetery. She listed all of the internments and has a map of the same.
Almer Olson is the son of Mr. and Mrs Severt (a.k.a Sever) Olson, Memorial# 71813208. Anna Hanson Joelson was the sister to my grandmother Thressie Hanson Johns--Memorial# 70906009. My mother is Bernice Eda Johns Meeker--Memorial# 70905446.
