Bio and Links
Bio Photo I was born in Vaiden, MS, on Dec. 31, 1954 to Alf Trotter Collins and Juanita Hambrick Collins.

I lived in Vaiden, MS until 1979, Winona, MS until 1981, when I moved to Jackson, MS. In 1990, I moved to Florence, MS, where I still reside.

I have two wonderful sons, Sean and Cody, and I worked as a Level 2 Computer Field Technician for AmSouth Bank, In-House Technician for Trustmark Bank and Field Technician for CompuCom servicing 10 Lowe's stores in Mississippi.

I have an A.A. Degree in Pre-Law; a B.S. Degree in History with a Minor in English; and a Master of Social Sciences with an emphasis in History.

I have written and maintain 240+ web pages, including listings of the burials in the Vaiden Mississippi Cemetery (White) and the Vaiden Community Cemetery (African-American).

So far, my family history has been traced back to my 14th Generation Grandfather, John Collins I, who was the keeper of the Gael (prison) for King Charles I of England (son of James I - of the King James Bible fame). Other relatives include another King (Elvis).

Other hobbies include motorcycles, making music as a drummer, historical research, adding entries to Find-a-Grave (since 08/11/2000), and watching and collecting DVDs.

Hey Ron,
I don't know how I missed your posting????
Anyway, yes, I'd like to know about Sharon Vaiden. She was very young. Thanks in advance.

36624237 & 43429801
Hello again, Ron,

Very sorry. In my haste, I neglected to give both Find A Grave #s, which are 36624237 for Marilea Hipps and 43429801 for Bobby Ray Hipps, Jr. Marilea and Bobby are brother and sister.

Also, Bobby was cremated and his Mother, who lives in Jackson, possesses the urn.

36624237; Marilea Hipps
Hello Ron,

I see that you added Bobby Hipps, who is brother of Marilea Hipps, 36624237. They passed away within about 6 months of each other in 2009. I spoke to their Mother on the telephone today. Is there a way you can link the two together as brother and sister?

Thank you kindly.

Hi Ron,
Would you have any information on John Collins in the Vicksburg Cemetery 5/14/1863? I am searching for a relative from Georgia but shows as dying in Vicksburg.
You may email me at

I tried again on Johnnie Murphy, will have to go at completely different time of the day, still not legible

RE: Susie Davis and Johnnie Murphy Marker Photos
Suzie Davis's marker is missing a piece and is worn complete flat. Her foot marker and being next to Cornie confirm her ID. Susie is on the left side of Cornie and Mary Bessie is on the right side. They are surrounded by a wrought iron fence

RE: C.H. and Mary Weston
I didn't see E.C. Brown or JAmes W. Dale, are in the CSA part of the cemetery? I looked around Hiram and Martha Dale, but didn't see James. I thought maybe he was in the CSA part, I haven't looked there. I looked all over for Mary Ann McClellan and didn't see anything. There are two mounds of bricks, like covering over a grave, plus are there are several large flat pieces of sandstone that look like markers. I suspect Benjamine Moore is the huge marker that toppled face down. It is inside a fenced area and Martha Moore is next to it, but on the outside of the fence. Do you know if Benjamine and Martha were husband and wife? I will look at the CSA part next time, when it is much, much cooler!

RE: Susie Davis and Johnnie Murphy Marker Photos
I am going to retry on both of these. Maybe take aluminum foil to try and get an imprint. One is weathered away. Johnnie looks like with the right light, it would be legible.

RE: Weems and Weatherby marker photos
I retook Mildred's and some of the other markers. The sun made some difference in legibility. Several are bad, no matter what.
