~ Genealogy~ It's a thrill to all of a sudden pass through the brick wall and find the information you have been seeking. I have " searched " for family members for over 15 years and that includes just doing research at the Genealogy Library before it became available on the Internet, but if the truth be told, all my life, as we grew up and listened to the stories of our parents and grandparents and if your lucky ,great grandparents. I still love doing it. I suddenly realize I have been working into the wee hours of the morning and have lost all track of time. My three loves are,my family, animals, and genealogy.
Sometimes I feel a sadness sweep over me while looking at the tired worn faces and reading how difficult life was at times for people. To endure what they did makes me very proud to be a small part of them.I have found that many of my family members have been buried without proper headstones, in fact many are in unmarked graves, I can only assume this was because of financial reasons ........... There are times I find someone and learn how sad their life was and other times I feel good to find that people have been happy in their lives and had loving, caring and kind family members. I spent my childhood and teenage years around Drain, Curtin, and Cottage Grove Oregon,so I'm familiar with those areas even though it's been years since I left.I now live in Tacoma, WA If I go back to Oregon I stop and visit my sleeping friends and relatives, touch up their resting spots and move on, can't dwell too long as it's very bittersweet every time I return.
I never ask for a transfer if the bio is completed, the only time I ask for a transfer is when they are not related to their manager of the memorial and have been sitting there with no bio and no date, no information, what a shame to have a memorial with nothing on it, if I'm related I will ask for the transfer,or send all the information and connections.I even fill out all the information and bio's on people that are not related as I have done so many genealogies just for fun.
I'm not here to collect memorials, I'm here to leave a family legacy for others and show my deep respect for family members that have passed on~ Anyone wanting a copy of any of my photos, please ask permission first. The donated photos are the property of the person named below it, they have taken the photo for that memorial and no other website. Please ask them. I am only too happy to help anyone in their genealogy .Just do not copy as it has taken me years of research to put this together, please ask, as I do have a copyright and would hate to see it turn up on another website/s without my approval.I don't approve of giving genealogy to a Internet site and have them sell the information to you, it's free from me. It is put here for the sole purpose of connecting family members and honoring those that are gone. Please respect my requests.I might also add that family members are welcome to use any of the information ( please ask my permission first ) as long as it not sold or put on a site that sells memberships.
One thing I have noticed , there are even hoarders on FindaGrave, people that have the memorials for years and years and have done nothing with them, and have no intention on transferring them to anyone that will write bio's and respect them. Some won't even post information others send for the bio's or post the correct information . This I find very discouraging and really sad as they do not seem to understand the entire concept of FindAGrave, nor do they care, they are here for their own selfish reasons "Hoarding" and being in control, even if it's control over dead people. We are doing a dis-service to the people that have passed on when we are more interested in having the highest numbers of graves and not interested in writing a beautiful and interesting bio or memorial for them. So many just sit there with no care given to them. They really arn't memorials with a blank page. It's not about us, or how many memorials we can post, how silly is that? We are here I hope to do good for others by leaving correct family information. I don't care how much work you put into it, don't be selfish, transfer what needs to be transferred to family members so they can write bio's. PS. There are many wonderful people I have met on FindAGrave, kind, considerate, thoughtful, and going out of their way to help other people, I appreciate all of them and respect the service they have done for others, my hat is off to them. My hat is also off to the staff at FindaGrave, they do a wonderful job." Thank you" to all of them.
I want to thank Melinda Wahl for all the really great photos of headstones, and for all the research she and Toni Mendive at the Northeastern Nevada Museum. They have donated all of the McDermott family and branches photos, thank you both. Thank you all for leaving notes and/or flowers for my family and friends. | |

 | Allen Thurman Vaughan I'm curious. I found the Vaughan while searching for info on Mary Ann Young Griffith.
Allen Vaughan is listed as a child of Elizabeth L. Griffith & Edwin Vaughan. How? Sarah Jane Reser was married to Edwin Vaughan in 1880.
Perhaps you know the answer? Just curious.

 | Julia Kocha Balaythy @ Woodmere in Detroit Posted a photo on her page. That section is very old, and they had just cut the grass when I went out there. I don't do cleaning of graves due to disability, but I try my best. Hope you like the photo.
Take care, TLIB | | | Heather R. (Schmid) Satchel

 | Moving tribute What an absolutely lovely memorial page that you created for your Grandfather! The moments of widsom he taught sounds priceless and the photos of him are timeless. (I just clicked on the tribute photo that popped up while working on my own research this morning, it was a nice break from my own work!)Added by Helen on Sep 04, 2012 1:05 AM | | | Jeannie

 | Mary Hotchkiss Labarr I believe Mary Hotchkiss Labarr is my great great aunt. In the 1900 Census there was a Lena Hotchkiss listed as living with the Labarr Family. I believe Lena Hotchkiss was my grandfather's sister. Do you know what happened to Lena Hotchkiss? Also, Margaret Hibbard contacted my mother. Has she passed away?Added by StevieH on Jul 21, 2012 3:50 PM | | | Roger & Kathleen Hawkins
