Bio and Links
Bio Photo Having been doing genealogy since the late 1970s and essentially full-time for the last 4 years, my objective is to provide well sourced facts on any memorials I manage. Thus, the viewer can rest assured they are being provided accurate information.

Since discovering, I have been in awe at how much has been contributed that has been of help to me. My goal is to return the favor.

All photos posted under my name on Find A Grave are protected by copyright. Any use without my express permission is prohibited. That includes posting pictures to other web sites!

In an effort to assist Tom Brocher in his quest to have photos of all the sites in Golden Gate National Cemetery, as of June 30, 2014, photos are posted to all the memorials for those interred in Section R.

Although most of the burials in Section R are from 1950 to 1953, I am humbled to have identified:
2 servicemen who died while in captivity when the 31st Infantry Regiment was surrendered as part of the Bataan Defense Force on April 9, 1942,
1 serviceman who died in the raid on Ploesti,
1 serviceman who died in the Battle of the Bulge,
2 servicemen killed in action defending Clark Field,
1 naval aviator killed in action at Guadalcanal,
3 serviceman killed in action in World War II,
183 servicemen who were killed in action in Korea,
1 serviceman who died while held as a POW in North Korea,
40 serviceman who either died of their wounds or as non-hostile deaths in Korea,
14 servicemen killed in action in Vietnam,
3 non-hostile death of servicemen in Vietnam, and
1 serviceman killed in action in Afghanistan.

All of these men who made the ultimate sacrifice in the service of their country are included in my "Ultimate Sacrifice" virtual cemetery. A biography is included for each serviceman.

RE: Vasta Sease # 132558721
Thamks that would be great, I know my cousin has greated a virtual graveyard for our family and would like to add Vasta to it and the mistake would be easy to make as she lived with her brother from an early age. Laura

RE: Hilliards/Thompsons at Macedonia cemetery
Thanks for the transfers. Thelma McManus, Grace Burlison and Peggy Brooks Cannady ( are/were members of the family. I think I actually met Thelma 20+ years ago at a family reunion right after I married into the family.

Don't worry, I will take care of them. The memorials used to exist and then disappeared which is why I wanted control. Don't know if it is possible to delete memorials or if someone has to get FindAGrave to do it.

Thanks for your help with entering all he memorials. Now just need to get photos on all the ones I misses on my whirlwind trip through there.

Vasta Sease # 132558721
Samuel and Sarah are actually Vasta's older brother and his wife. Vasta's and Samuel's parents are Arod Hoagland and Margaret Anderson Hoagland. Vasta lived with her brother after her parents died while she was still a minor. Laura Hoagland Kerth

I will be happy to process any edits/updates I receive. But as of today the only edit request I've received is for Elvis B Brooks name change to Benny Elvis Brooks which I have done. Our only other discussion has been about Evie, Jamey, and Minnie Brooks. Right now I am vacationing with grandson from Memphis visiting grand daughter in Savannah. Later today going on to Deland, Fl, to vist youngest grand son and take the two grand sons on to Orlando for this week. Will return to Nashville, Tn Saturday. I do not have the McManus book with me. I'm limited on time this week to get much of anything accomplished.

RE: Sarah Pool Johnson
Hi Kathleen,
Glad to help, I've collected quite a bit on the Pool/Poole family, and posted on Rootsweb/Ancestry if you are related.

What book are you working from and where do I get a copy?

RE: Hilliards/Thompsons at Macedonia cemetery
No, I don't live near Macedonia. I actually live near Chicago. However, we were in Branson MO for vacation a few weeks ago and stopped at Macedonia to get photos. However, due to time constraints and back muscle pulls, we didn't get the entire cemetery photographed. I have many more photos, however, that don't have memorials yet. Will try to get some of them entered tomorrow.

RE: Minnie Brooks
I am going to be posting requests for headstone photos to about 80 persons in Macedonia in the coming weeks. Maybe we can get some clarification then (if headstones are found). I hope to get over there in Sep or Oct this year and do some myself. I went to Doniphan in 1980 when I first started researching my McGonigal family and actually met Thelma McManus. She wouldn't share any info with me without first getting permission from my cousin who had retained her to also research McGonigal's. After a quick phone call, she gave me the book "Come Over To Macedonia" which is a history ot the Hixson from Tennessee to Missouri. As you said, it is quite strange about the two books differing so much. Makes you then wonder which one is more correct.
