Bio and Links
Bio Photo I got involved in Find A Grave while working on my family tree. I tried to find pictures of the headstones of my family/ancestors and discovered that many memorials had no pictues available. I also discovered that I had information that was not included in several of the memorials. For that reason, I began asking for transfers to me for maintenance of these memorials. My reasons for desiring to maintain these memorials is only to provide family links and pictures/information I have come across during my genealogical research. If anyone wishes to have a memorial transferred or if any of my transfer requests are not granted, I fully understand.

I will create memorials when I discover a need and have the necessary information. I do not have the time nor the desire to set any records in creating or maintaining memorials. I am only interested in maintaining those memorials with which I have a family connection.

I live in Cleveland, Tennessee and am glad to take any pictures of headstones or cemetery signs, etc in the area. Just send the request and I'll do what I can when I can. If you want original photos of any pictures I take for you before they are cropped or reduced in size, just send me your email address and I will try to comply. I usually keep them for about a month before I delete them. I hereby grant permission for any non-commercial use of any photo I post or send to anyone.

I will also help with research at the local library or courthouse when I am able. Just contact me by email with any request.

RE: Photograph permission - Zachariah Burton
Hi Jim,

I don't mind if you use the photo for your personal use, however I would prefer it not be posted to an open forum for just anyone to pick up. This is my preference.

To many times pictures are misidentified, and used improperly.

I too had a tree on ancestry, but got tired of people using information, adding to their own, and not documenting. Sources not provided, and pictures were used and applied to wrong individuals.

Also, people will take information, but not be willing to share with anyone. Not fair! I love helping people out, but dislike after all the hard work into a project then someone not giving credit for the information.

I hope you will honor my request.

Thank you,

RE: Photograph permission - Zachariah Burton
Hi Jim,

Thank you for asking. Yes, please feel free to use this picture in your personal family tree. I am interested, how are you connected to Zachariah?

The picture online is not of a very good quality, if you would like a better one, just send me your email and I will get one to you.

This is actually a charcoal. My grandmother said she remembered seeing this hanging in her grandparent's home when she was a child. (early 1900's in Daviess County, Indiana) Her grandmother was Eliza Ann, Zachariah's eldest child with Matilda Teagarden.

I remember commenting to my grandmother when very young that the picture looked strange.... The horse was very detailed, but Zachariah's body and legs did not "look right". When removing from the frame to photograph we discovered there were areas that it was evident that it had been reworked. Who ever did the sketch was very good with animals, but unsure with people.

I was told by my grandmother, that it was Zachariah on his horse "Copperbottom". If you look at the background, it appears there are mountains and 'lobblollies" Makes me wonder if the background was made to show where they lived in Ashe County, North Carolina. Food for thought!
