I'm a Homesite Acreage REALTOR in Montgomery County, Texas...working on my Family History when I can...joined F-A-G not long ago and have already had alot of success, I think this is great and would like to applaud all involved!

I am also a Member of the Class of 1979 at St. Frederick CHS (Go WARRIOR'S!) in Monroe, La., and have begun a new project...gathering F-A-G info for all our deceased ALUMNI....and would like to THANK all my fellow WARRIORS for any assistance!!

...and now I've been vol-recruited by the 75th Ohio Inf (yep, YANKS!), to help get all members of the original CW Regiment located &/or memorialized! This was the unit in which a GGGrand-Uncle, Capt. Thomas J. Wheeler (#22988649) served with until his death in 1863...he died of multiple GSWs inflicted on the first day of the Battle of Gettysburg!

On 1/19/2011 my father, CMDR Thomas J. Powers passed away suddenly....upon hearing the news I immediately sat and began his Memorial (Find A Grave Memorial# 64427239) which I posted to F/B as I was unable to speak of it on the phone. He was very proud of the work I had been doing on Ancestry & F-A-G, both for the Family...and for the "forgotten" CW Vets! He had just visited "Chancellorsville" the day before his death and purchased 2 books for me there, one was "The Last Days of Thomas J. 'Stonewall' Jackson"! RIP Dad.

SUMMER 2011...Frank & Jesse James CAPTURED!

In my TREE!!! My Dad died suddenly in Jan, leaving a lot of unanswered ???s on his maternal side as his mother had died just after his birth, and her mother died when she was only 4, and her mother, when she was 22....3 generations all died young in Ark, away from the Old Kentucky Home!!? Then a 2nd cousin of Dads found me thru F-A-G, who provided a lot of new info that sent me up several of his "lost" maternal lines and resulted in several surprises such as his GGG-Gpa was GEN Jesse Cole Lindsay (KY Militia)! I was excited with this till I discovered his sister was the Grandmother of FRANK & JESSE JAMES....making me their 2nd (4x's) Cousin!!! Then also there was my GGG-Uncle, COL John Anthony Lindsay (CSA-Ark), #75652636, who served GEN Sterling Price in the 1864 MO Campaign as his Guide!!! I finally found those REBELS in the woodpile I've been in search of all my SPADES!!! Iiiiiiieeeee!!!

My Dad never knew any of this....DA*N!

Last words of a mortally wounded 20yr old Confederate Officer: "No, I am done for. You can do me no good. Save yourselves and tell Pa good-bye and I died right. I did my duty. I died at my post." ~RIP Sir

I went to this cemetery yesterday and found your PR for Abigail Aspinwall d 16 Apr 1736, Unfortunately it is under a shrub and very difficult to photograph...but I have the Hale Listings and know it is hers because it is next to Zeruiah Tew d 1770 who is buried on the other side of the shrub. Planting a small shrub was a good idea at the time of death but 250+ years later, it is now a "big" shrub!!
Good luck with your genealogy,

William Atkinson
I visited Greenwood Cemetery today. Unfortunately the lot listed on this site for William Atkinson does not have a headstone. The office gave me a map that shows the lot was purchased by Duff C. Atkinson. I posted a few pics of the area. Sorry I couldn't do more.

Richard Graves Memorial# 137896273
I can't find any sources on my quick look that suggests this grave belongs to Richard Cole Graves. Can you help me locate your source?

Sirmon Twins
Hello Vince,
I just ran across the photo and memorial for a twin boy and girl, children of R.G. and M.J. Sirmon. The Sirmons were my great grandparents. I was unaware of these children. Do you have more info to share? Did you actually see the stone?

Thanks so much for what you are doing. R.G. Sirmon served in the CW from 1861-1865. Such a sacrifice was made by all the families of that era.

I found some Larsh's but not sure if it is the right one due to the fact that all the headstone says is Larsh. NO dates. So I took pic. of the ones around it. Was wondering if you have any other family names you can throw at me so I can check to see if it is the right one.

Thank you

I noticed you had added a memorial to this one: # 59622073

I just added some pictures for the grave, and you may want to check them out.

Best Regards,

Alexander Anderson
A few years back you had requested a photo for PVT. Alexander Anderson # 63183017.
You have his memorial in a non-existent cemetery.

I have posted a picture of his military stone. It is in the cemetery where he is buried, "Andover Old Methodist church cemetery".

I am going to have Find A Grave help me in deleting the non-existent cemetery where you have his memorial, so you might consider doing a burial edit to the correct cemetery, at which time I will add the photo to your memorial and then delete the memorial that I created for him.

Thanks for your attention to this matter.

You bio story is fantastic. Love the enthusiasm for charting our history. Me too!

Please be sure you add what you learn to the trees at FamilySearch because they have a free system with a global research collection of sources that can reach more people everywhere.

They have improved their tree pages to give you better information and it finds duplicates that help you improve your source details. Be sure to remove/unmatch any errors that you find when using it. Their system also retrieves Findagrave memorials when doing searches, probably because people like you are making it such a great genealogical site.

Good searching,
John Gavin
