|Dennis & Linda||Re: Grundy Hawkins|
The majority of the headstones in the Confederate Cemetery at Fayetteville only mark the grave. They are blank for the most part. However, cemetery records for this cemetery show that Grundy was the 64th interment. His listing shows that he was in Co G, Thomsons Reg., Shelby's Brig. of Missouri. He would be in the Missouri Section of the cemetery. - dennis

I've heard there is/(are) a (some) civil war cemetery(ies) somewhere around here, but I don't know where it/(they) is/(are). There are several cemeteries I've been to (around here)that have Civil War Vets in them. Unfortunately, Greene & Taney counties are a bit out of my range, unless you could guarantee I would have something to photograph (& that's the problem isn't it!). With exact position information (in the cemetery) & good directions To the cemetery (and/or a map) I'd be willing to go as far as Springfield (35 miles) IF I have another reason to make the trip (like a medical appointment)and the weather is OK. (like above freezing & no precipitation & no ice/slush/snow on ground & roads). Even though I drive a Jeep, I really don't wish to test it's capabilities :) .

The current Manager of the Clay Hill Cemetery records is the Grandson and son of previous managers. He tells me there was a fire (still checking on the year) at the Church where the original records were stored, and they were lost. A partial Record was @ the Then managers home, and has been added to since. His quote is "The Records are incomplete and not necessarily correct"...
Partial surveys of the Cemetery have been conducted a few times since and one (comprehensive) survey is in progress right now; and should be completed by the end of this month. Be advised that vandalism has happened in the past and markers have been broken, stolen, or defaced, etc.
I'm Sorry but, At the moment, he has No Record of a Stephen Snow, or any Snow, buried at the Clay Hill Cemetery. After the Survey is completed, he will call me if his name shows up. If it does, and there IS a marker, I will Photograph it.

I went to the Cemetery today, but did not find any Stone with the name Snow. I contacted the manager & have him looking through the records... So far No response. Of Course, I wouldn't get lucky on the first try. (I haven't claimed this request yet).
