"I will show you fear in a handful of dust." T.S. Eliot|
We are not so much afraid of dying, as we are of no one remembering we existed at all.
We only walk this earth because of the people before us. Every name is a memory to a life, not just a branch in a tree. Sometimes all that echoes through time is a name, a date, a relationship, a headstone. But bringing those things together here is remembering the person who lived, and I am proud to be a part of this community of volunteers who spend their free time to send the message "you have not been forgotten"
Still active as of November 2014. If you have any information to add to any memorials I have created please let me know but use the EDIT- SUGGEST A CORRECTION feature. Please also use this feature when inquiring about a specific memorial, the comments section below is not helpful in directing me with a link to see what you are talking about.
PROCESSING EDITS: I know about the feature, but I don't blindly click all. Have patience, I will get to it, but I do check- I will also look for an obituary for you if its here in Oregon. So have patience, check back when you get the email, it might be worth a look.
DO YOU KNOW? Find A Grave will automatically process all untouched edits after 3 weeks. Yep. that contributor who's been ignoring your requests for years didn't just finally get with the program.
DO YOU KNOW? if you mess up a submission you can go to your own edits page, use the drop down menu to find edits you have submitted, find the edit you did and delete and redo if it hasn't been processed. Pretty Nifty if you ask me. Edits on Find A Grave are finally happening and they have fixed some of the flaws from the initial launch.
PHOTOS: I took the photo to help you! If you would like any of the photos I have taken for your own family tree, you are welcome to them. If its a family photo I added though, please contact me! I don't mind sharing, I have a public tree on ancestry.com that I will give you directions to for more photos (if I have them). Our ancestors should be remembered by all who want to preserve a piece of who they were. My collection is the work of many who believed in saving photos of cousins, aunts, uncles and grandparents they never knew and then taking the time to share them with me. As we pass through this world, I feel better knowing my ancestors wont disappear and pictures forgotten if multiple people from all over have the key.

Okay! I will see if I can find them the next time I go up there. :)
Erin, thanks for the obit! Added it. And being 'behind' is totally normal for busy people!

In Mountain View Cemetery there is a problem with her memorial. The death date is wrong. Here is a copy of the real deal.
Oregon, Death Index, 1898-2008
Name: Bertha J Shortlidge
Death Date: 2 Apr 1967
Death Place: Clackamas
===================================== The problem does not stop there.. there is
currently a duplicate that needs to be addressed.
Sorry, to say that you have generated another duplicate. The other one predates yours.
Hope you enjoyed the holiday, Martin Burrell

Many, many thanks for helping to straighten out my files & data. I super appreciate the source information. These ol' age eyes simply overlooked the death age info that Night Angle had on the orig. memorial. I will make the correction(s) ASAP. I am well aware of the "copying" errors that can be taken from Ancestry. I learned early on that Ancestry (and U.S. Census Records) are NOT the cat's meow as to gospel information. But some times that is all you have until somebody like you comes along and helps get things correct.
KUDOS for all the work you do for us neophytes. I enjoy family history, but with my many other activities, I just do not have as much time to spend on it as I would like.
You said you were related to the Pricketts. Closely or shirt tail cousins? I have traced my daughter-in-love's mother and maternal grandparents nine generations back to John Prickett in early 1600s.

What is your source for the records showing Nathan's death date, aged 55 years, 5 months, 29 days? Naturally, there is no stone inscription to calculate from. As I said, all I am going with at this time is the info from Prickett Family Tree. Help!

Thanks so much for the heads up. The cemetery had to be merged. I would never have posted so many duplicates. I took all of mine off. Thanks again!

Thanks for your interest in Nathan. Nathan is ancestry of my daughter-in-law.
I am at a loss as to how you are doing a b-day calculation from a memorial stone. I have no information for a stone nor have I put one on his memorial. A couple of years ago I had put out a Photo Request for a stone (if any)on his memorial in Prickett Cemetery but nobody responded as to being able to locate any headstone. Were you able to find one? If so, may I have a copy of the photo, not only for his memorial but for my personal file of family headstones? The b-day I used in the F.A.G. memorial is from Prickett Family Tree (sourced) on Ancestry.
