Correction
Accordin to the New York, Town Clerks' Registers of Men Who Served in the Civil War, ca 1861-1865, Charles Sherman Balcom's birthdate is May 12, 1825 in Redfield, Oswego, New York. I figured you'd like to know. If I'm wrong, then someone flubbed at the records office.
Thank you,
Renee

I changed his middle name ok but I'm supposed to leave his surname the way it's spelled on the stone.
Find A Grave FAQ - "Last Name as you would find it on the tombstone, if the interred had more than one marriage or other possible spellings please place this information in the bio and use the family links. Do not include honorary or other suffixes in the Last Name field." I put the correct spelling in the bio.

I'll also look through the photographs that I have from the historical society, many aren't labeled and I have been labeling them as time allows.
