Becky Jacobs graduated from Elgin in 1966. Seven generations of my family is buried in the Prospect Cemetery. (Live in Abilene, TX since 1977).I have worked on genealogy research for 39 years and just completed my 19th family history book. I published "The Scrapbook of Prospect Ohio Pioneers" in 1988 from clippings from my Great Grandmother Rebecca Jane Bevis Hedges of whom I was named. My dad, Carl L. Jacobs was a Prospect township trustee. My great grandfather Stephen Bingham McWherter was the Sexton at the cemetery from 1921 until his death in 1923.I have checked these records against death and census records. Over 2500 obits from my cousin Sarah Longnecker Reichardt's scrapbooks, she gave me years ago along with obits from the Prospect Monitor, Richwood Gazette and Marysville Journal Tribune obits will be added as time permits. Thanks to Stofcheck-Ballinger Funeral Home in Richwood in helping me to honor those that have gone before.|
My dad, Carl also served as a trustee at the York Cemetery in Union County, Ohio. I went to Byhalia-York from 1st to 8th grade before moving to Prospect. May 19 2011 permission was granted from Leona & David Gustafson to use their pictures of the York Cemetery. This has added greatly to the memorials. Thank you Leona & David for your years of taking these beautiful pictures, we know the families will appreciate them. We are all working toward the same cause to
preserve the family.
In 1991 my friend Sherry Bowen Barger helped me copy the old cemetery record books. Sep 2011 classmates Larry Osborn & wife Norma and Terry Redmon helped take 4800 pictures of tombstones. Cousins Sylvia Bevis Harmon & Jean Bevis Clingenpeel shared copies of obit for this cemetery.
Jim Issler is helping me on this project. He has added files for 1923-1949 that I have edited Click on Jim's name below for his bio.
Ralph Issler (Jim's dad) is Superintendent at the cemetery since 1988 and we appreciate the great job he does.
My goal on Find A Grave is to link families together NOT to just add names. I have spent 1000's of hours looking up birth, marriage and death records to have the record as accurate as possible.

Is the Mayfield you entered at Prospect Cem. a relative? I have a photo from Prospect-very old. On the back it says B Mayfield and Family. I was wondering if this could be. Looks to be just b4 the turn of the century. Has him, his wife and a baby. Any thoughts?

I noticed on William Verity's memorial page that you had a note of parents names of Emma. I just found his marriage to Emma Hall ( maiden name was CRONK). Emma and William were married in Athens County, OH on December 26, 1912. Thanks for all your Find a Grave memorials. They sure have helped me.
Would it be possible to transfer the memorial of James Murphy to me? He is my maternal grandfather and would like to add his parents and first wife, my grandmother to his site. His memorial # is 75283900.

I've been doing some browsing on Find a Grave and saw your memorial for John E. Houseworth and his wife Bertha. I have a marriage for John E. Houseworth to a Bertha C. Davis. Is is possible he was married several time than what his obit says, or it this Bertha C. Davis the same person as your Bertha Beard? Thanks.
