Hi Y'all. I'm a Central Pennsylvania native living in Eastern Georgia. I'm tracking down and documenting family names including Daugherty, Sprunger, Amstutz, Updegraff (and its variations Updegrave, Uptagrafft, Updegrove, etc.). I'm also interested in family names Antes, Bixler, Bressler, Coffee, Ferree, Gillinger, Habegger, Herr, Kendig, Logan, Pennington, Rothlischberger, Williams. |
I'm part of the great Pennsylvania melting pot, a descendant of Scotch-Irish, Swiss Mennonite, French Huguenots, Moravians, English, German, and Welsh ancestors. The "huddled masses yearning to breathe free."
I'm also looking for my wife's family including Devaney, Hayman, Holley, Leffler, Ricketson, Robertson, Seiter, Street, Tuemler, Williams.
I'm trying to photograph as much as possible, and create an accurate, historical record. I'll be glad to transfer non-family members. I've enjoyed getting to know my extended family members through Findagrave.
Please visit my famous relatives:
Rev Hans Herr, Jr, Swiss Mennonite Bishop, 8th Great-Grandfather. (Herr)

Thank you so much for that information, Bill. I will definitely look that up. Trying to figure out the Herr-Rudy families is confusing, since so many of them are named George and John! I appreciate your thoughtfulness.
Strangely enough, I am researching the Herr-Rudy houses in Louisville. I began last fall, but have picked it back up again this summer. There are 7 Herr-Rudy houses standing in Louisville, all within a couple of miles of my house. Six of the houses are on the historic register. You can type into Google: herr-rudy nps
and it will bring up a pdf of the nomination form. It contains very interesting information about the houses and the family. This is where we got Herr Lane and Rudy Lane in Louisville. One house was left off the nps nomination, but the others are there.
I have been searching for the Herr-Rudy graveyards. I finally located Herr #1 (aka Magnolia Farm Cemetery) today. It is just across the street and around the corner from the Magnolia Farm house. I fulfilled your photo requests and added extra photos. I believe that at least one more Herr cemetery is located on one of the historic properties. I am going to contact the owner to see if they will give me permission to visit. If so, I will definitely post the photos.
I am reading a book right now which has a ton of information about the Herr and Rudy families in Louisville. It is called "So Close from Home: The Legacy of Brownsboro Road" by Lynn Scholl Renau (who actually lives in one of the Herr-Rudy homes). I got it on amazon, so you may be able to find one there, if you are interested.

Unfortunately, no. I double checked the online cemetery records and there are no dates there either.

In addition to Abraham and Elizabeth, I also photographed and uploaded photos (if they were missing) for the rest of the plot: Alexander McIlvaine, Katherine McIlvaine Rudderow, Henry McIlvaine, and Fannie McIlvaine.

The other entry had been deleted. It was not present when I made mine. It later was restored. Thank you for your interest.

Thanks for the response. He’s been on my mind a lot, seems he fell from grace before he died at the age of 42. His marker only says “Soldier”.
Don’t want to put any more in a public message!

Hello again. It’s been a while! Currently working on a civil war veteran named Myers Updegraff at Chartiers Cemetery, and wondered if you have any info for him.
|Deborah L Davis||Dunkerly|
I see you have the marker for Harold and Rebecca Dunkerly. Do you know anything about them and who they are related to?
My grandmother is a Dunkerly and I am in the thick of things, but can't find the above.
