THE RECORDING OF A CEMETERY
BY THELMA GREENE REAGAN
Today we walked where others walked
On a lonely, windswept hill;
Today we talked where others cried
For loved ones whose lives are stilled.
Today our hearts were touched
By graves of tiny babies;
Snatched from the arms of loving kin,
In the heartbreak of the ages.
Today we saw where the grandparents lay
In the last sleep of their time;
Lying under the trees and clouds -
Their beds kissed by the sun and wind.
Today we wondered about an unmarked spot;
Who lies beneath this hollowed ground?
Was it a babe, child, young or old?
No indication could be found.
Today we saw where Mom and Dad lay.
We had been here once before
On a day we'd all like to forget,
But will remember forever more.
Today we recorded for kith and kin
The graves of ancestors past;
To be preserved for generations hence,
A record we hope will last.
Cherish it, my friend; preserve it, my friend,
For stones sometimes crumble to dust
And generations of folks yet to come
Will be grateful for your trust.

|Dave Srednicki||RE: Girtons|
You're welcome. The Girton headstones were very worn and hard to read.

Hi, thank-you for finding and taking grave photos for Robert Clark's memorial. I appreciate it very much. Can you add your grave pics to the memorial I added for his wife Cecilia?
thanks, donna white
Her actual name was Nellie Halstead but went by the nick name Helen. Family lore says that the original headstone said Nellie Halstead. Daughter in-law later paid to have the headstone changed to Helen Halstead. I don't know which name you might find.
|Robert Clark||Thank You!|
Thank you for the transfer of Sarah Elizabeth Morrison Clark #127640623
|Rebecca Millsap||RE: Update on Brisbin|
Thank you. I wasn't sure how his name appears. It's my aunts father and I know he's buried with my grandma Ruby which is why I put her plot.
|Christie||RE: Harriet J. Dailey|
Thanks very much! I appreciate it - couldn't figure out how the memorials could have been merged without our knowing it, but that makes sense. Appreciate your getting back to me, and also your deleting the picture. Take care! Christie
