Daughter of Cecil Wray Rogers and Evelyn Alice Kurtz Rogers.I was born in Pinckneyville IL in 1964,My Father now retired Captain with The United States Marine Corps was stationed in Okinawa, Japan upon my arrival only received a telegram "It's a Girl" for a few days he believed he had a daughter named Ginger. Much to his surprise my mother changed my name. I have lived at the Marine Corps Base, Camp LeJune, NC, back to Pinckneyville (a small southern town in IL) and then moved to Orlando, FL in 1971. When I married my husband Ray we moved to Apopka, FL and in 1989 I was blessed with the birth of my son Raymond (III). I truly enjoy family history. There are books and articles for my dad's side which have been extremely helpful, and I have been researching my mothers side for many years now and came across this site in 2010. It has been very helpful to me and if I can help anyone else out I will. I create the memorials to show respect to those who have gone before us and as a way to help maintain "Family History". I feel that memorials should be maintained by family, they will be able to honor them better than I, and I wish others would do the same in return. Even though I try my best to create the memorial as accurate as I can, I to make mistakes. Please send corrections and I will do my best to correct them as soon as possible.
At work I do a lot of archiving old photos. Some of my customers bring me hundreds of family photos dating back in the 1800's. I find it so fascinating. I tell them about this site so they may find some of their family members information and leave a note or just some "virtual"flowers.

**************** F.Y.I************ F.Y.I.********* today October 17, 2012 I received a email from an angry "Lady" who threatened me for creating a memorial for her family member. If I create one and you would like me to remove it, threats are not needed. I feel I am very respectful of the departed and I KNOW many have appreciated the time we volunteers take to create and post memorials. I appreciate the information I have found about my families on Find A Grave, and I THANK EACH and everyone who volunteers! ~Sharon

 | RE: Alice Clarence Morgan England Usually it is easy to transfer a memorial just by asking. This particular Anonymous did not answer privately or publicly. I therefore went to the monitors of findagrave in "frequently asked questions" and requested transfer, noting the fact that I had tried several times to contact Anonymous. Eventually, they complied.
One explanation is that Anonymous may have died and there has been no one to take over his/her memorials.
Hope this helps.

 | RE: Thorpland VS Smith Cemetery Sorry Sharon, all I've done there is add a Sinclair entry and have never visited. Sorry I can't be of help. Don't know the cemeteries of York County well at all. | | | Thomas
 | Thorpland Cemetery, York County, Va I just transferred all graves under my management to you. Only a few are under someone elses care. It's a beautiful cemetery and hope someday you can visit it. Regards.Added by Thomas on May 13, 2013 6:38 AM | | | Barbara Walton

 | RE: Oak Grove and Cedar Grove P.S.
The on-line burial registries for Cedar Grove and Oak Grove will have a '#' next to the name if the person has a markerAdded by Jake Dog on May 08, 2013 4:38 PM | | | Jake Dog
 | RE: Oak Grove and Cedar Grove Hi Sharon,
I also saw other Roger names listed as being at Oak Grove that are really Cedar Grove burials. If you look at the plot number and it starts with a numeric then it's a Cedar Grove burial. Just go onto the Portsmouth cemetery link to verify:
http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/portsmouth/pcems.html
Steve Poole manages a lot of the Oak Grove memorials and I'm sure he will be glad to help you remove any memorials that are erroneously listed as Oak Grove that are actually at Cedar Grove.

 | RE: Robert S Wiatt Sharon, if you click on the overview picture of the tombstones, you will see that I posted the Section and Plot in the caption.
And, yes, you have my permission to use those photos on ancestry.com.
(I hope you do get to come to the area to leave your flowers - it is a lovely cemetery. You will want to stop by the office to get a map to help you locate the graves.)

 | Wiatt Spouses There are spouses buried beside both Francis (Eloise) and Robert (Wilma). If you create memorials for either or both of these ladies, please let me know and I'll go ahead and put up the pictures I took of their sides of the tombstones.
