DUE To a Health issue, I am running behind on catching up on emails and corrections...Please be patient|
**** NEWS ALERT****
I have Many Relatives, Close and Distant Whose graves were NOT marked due to no funds (1600's- present )or so long ago that the stones have deteriorated into the earth
Family Traditions and Family Bibles and Death Records Let many of us know where they rest. So just because there is no stone does that mean they Shouldn't be included in family lines?
Come on people a true Genealogist digs to find the lines...and doesn't jump over those very important limbs of many trees just because there is no marker to prove that they lay X <-- here.
Find A Grave gives us an "Unknown" choice for burials or cremations, etc. and if it's a known fact that these people are dead, and they will most likely never be officially linked to any particular burial place, they also have a right to be remembered and to be linked to their other family members.
I will gladly link those who have an unknown status.
That can easily be changed if they are proved to be in any particular place.
I have been an avid cemetery hunter for at least 35+ years, My Mom had us (her children) off gallivanting cemeteries when she started researching my fathers Sutphin clan in the 70's
While growing up many a weekend was spent looking for long lost graveyards and feeling the excitement of finding the final resting place of our relatives..
All of her children when traveling still go through the local phone books for any Sutphin residents..lol
What Mom instilled into us is a gift in my eyes..to remember and honor those before us and never forget where we came from.
Thank you Mom for being my inspiration and my hero, Without your Love, Support, knowledge and patience of my endless supply of question and your roomfull of notebooks and your years of listening to the family histories told to you by so many this Crazy journey would not be possible.
My Lines of research are are Sutphin, Gilmore, Glick, Goads, Nesters, McPeak and all related families in my Beautiful part of Southwest Virginia
My husbands family lines are Armentrout, Argenbright, Blackwell Burns, McGown and Tylers of Rockbridge County Va. and surrounding counties
I happily accept any help ,corrections, new Friends and family members.
We are all on the same quest of finding our forefathers and our kin :)
A lot of the pictures I have posted are newer graves,when I cemetery hunt, I take pictures of all the stones and resting places new and old, that time or weather will allow I never wish to upset any of the families..I simply am trying to save some steps for future genealogist and maybe allow a family member far away to see a picture of their kins final resting place.
Many of the stones I attempt to photo document need a little enhancement to read the names and dates..due to the controversy of shaving creams,chalk and other sources..I use Herbal Choice, an all natural shave cream.
Special thanks to my Find A Grave mates Rita McKale, Ron Stewart, Victoria True, Denise Horton , Rich Kreiss for Your help being a sounding board when I'm frustrated and when I am stuck in a "That can't be right" moments.
A Thank You for his help and patience goes to my Friend Michael Nestor as I attempt to figure out the Goads and Nesters that touch so many of the family lines in My part of Southwest Va.
Thanks goes to my partner in Crime ,My Snake & spider killer ,Bee and Black Bear chaser offer.
My Hubby :)

|Michael Garnett McGrady||Marion Gaynell Ellison|
Donna, I just left a message a moment ago about the subject. Afterward, I went back and found that I had started a memorial a couple of months ago. I am embarrassed to say that I don't remember adding it, and I don't remember where I got the info on her connection to North Carolina./// Therefore I am asking you to take it for management, since I'm obviously getting senile at my early age of 80.///Sorry for the confusion.// Mike
|Michael Garnett McGrady||Death of Marion Gaynell Ellison|
Hi, Donna! I just learned yesterday that Marion Gaynell (McGrady)Ellison died in the last couple of months. I found her husband Robert Lee Ellison's Find A Grave page which you are managing, with a link to Gaynell, but no info on her demise./// Her husband is buried at the Tom Alderman Cemetery in Carroll Co., VA. I tried to find a date of death for her but could not. I know it was within the last two or three months. She was in the nursing home in Laurel Fork for a number of months.//Could you update her info. I know that you have much more experience than I do, so I'm sure you can get the details.///Thanks, Mike

|anthony lowe||Lovicy Davis Montgomery|
Have been looking for information on Lovicy Davis and her sister Elizabeth, midwives of Carroll County, Va. Wondered where you found that their father was Samuel. Marriage records give Betsy as name of Lovicy's mother, but no father's name is given. Also saw an old story that Elizabeth was seen floating across Little Reed Island Creek by a neighbor Asa Quesenberry. Would like to exchange information with anyone interested in this family.

Hello again Donna,
Thank you as always for your continuing help in "reuniting" my family members
The transferred memorial;
Dr Lewis Ferdinand Woltz # 87752199
Jestin Beamer Shockley # 74125026
have been updated to include parents, siblings, spouses and children where possible.
I will be adding to OUR memorials as I get new information.
With sincerest appreciation,
|Sue Hale Sheppard||Continued support|
Thank you for your continued support in updating memorials by request.
|Laura Webb Thomas||Webb Cemetery - Hillsville|
Thank you so much for documenting this cemetery! I stopped by there today after a weekend in Floyd researching. Since you photographed it, this burial site has become overgrown with brambles and cut pine limbs were cut and covered Henry Webb's grave. His wife's grave was totally covered in cut grass. Very sad that it is falling into such a sad state.
|June Ford||Ernest Lee Ford #15050819|
This is my father in law and is definitely not son of Icey Durnell. His parents were William Marion Ford and Dollie Ann Ford, with no connection to VA after at least 1801. I do wonder how that mistake came about, and would be happy to help straighten out the Ford line if wanted.
|D Rowland||RE: So sorry|
Thanks for your message about Bill. I have for a long time thought you were connected to Bill's family in some way. I guess if you go back far enough we all are connected. Thanks again.
