How do I get a relative's memorial transferred to me?
First, Determine if you really need the memorial transferred to you for management. Transferring of management should only be requested If you have extensive changes to make to a memorial. You can add photos and suggest corrections without having to request management. Simply having someone in your family tree is not grounds for a management transfer request. With hundreds of thousands of contributors, we have many overlapping family trees and it would be impossible for all contributors to manage their entire tree.

Many thanks to everyone who has contributed information and photos for my memorials.

RE: Sarah Lingan Randolph
Since I have recently found a death record for a daughter, and it states that her father was born in Virginia and her mother was born in Maryland, we have discrepancies. Who does one believe. I find that census records are not always correct, but I have no absolute proof that she was born in the District of Columbia. However, I doubt very seriously that she was born in Maryland, since her parents were residents of the District of Columbia in as early as 1800. You will have to make that determination, because you are the creator of her cemetery record.

One of my sources is her "Matrimony Notice" published in the Washington City Weekly Gazette, Washington, District of Columbia, on May 25, 1816, page 216: MARRIED: On the 21st, by the Rev. Mr. Addison, William Beverly Randolpy, esq., of Virginia, to Miss Sarah Lingan, daughter of the late Gen. Lingan, of the District of Columbia."

No, she was born in the District of Columbia. Sometimes there are errors in the censuses, but she definitely was born in the District of Columbia. I do not know if she was born in Washington City, District of Columbia, or if she was born in Georgetown, District of Columbia. I spent two days researching this family. Her father was born in Maryland, but raised in the District of Columbia. I also researched her sister. In 1820, she was married and living in Virginia.

Thank you for the information and your post. I didn't see anything inappropriate about my messages to you. I made the correction using the edit mode. I also sent a private message to give reasons for correction because I wasn't sure if you would question my corrections. I just don't feel that you needed to admonish me publicly. We are all volunteers.

Yesterday, I unfortunately entered a memorial for my dear and close friend Gen. Hutchison at West Point Cemetery without checking the Academy burial grounds because I thought they were the same. Since you posted the first memorial I am willing to transfer the memorial I manage to you so you can add the bio info and picture to yours. In his bio, when he said he climbed the highest mountain in South Korea with President Park, he "forgot" to mention that I was there with them as well.

RE: Your half-sister
I am glad you replied because as I was thinking about this I did come to the same conclusion - even to the explanation that she was raised by her uncle. I am going to visit her son next week and show him the memorial page for his approval.

Thanks for helping me think this through. Yes I know how to do the linking

Take care

RE: Your half-sister
Thank you. I'm not sure if I should leave the entire obit. She was raised by my uncle so those two sisters mentioned were really her cousins. Our family was split between uncles. I'm sure she thought of them as sisters. However, I am also concerned that accurate info is posted.

I will have to think it over. Any suggestions?
