I have been doing genealogy for nearly twenty years and have a wealth of cemetery photos. I have loved walking through cemeteries and reading the tombstones, especially the very old ones. I thought it was time I shared my photos with others, and I hope that it helps someone find their ancestor! By adding tombstone photos and bios on Findagrave, I have found a great way to share twenty years of research on my Maryland Simpson family. |
More recently, I have been challenged to get the very oldest tombstones in a cemetery photographed, while they are still readable, and add them to FAG. Two of my endeavors have included Greenmount Cemetery and Baltimore Cemetery, both in Baltimore City. It has been very rewarding to find those born in the 1700's, who helped shape the City of Baltimore, place them on FAG, and then to hear from one of their descendants who had been looking for them for years!
I am glad to make any corrections and/or additions. If I have added any memorials of your family member and you do not wish it to be posted on this site, I will be glad to take it down. Also, please ask permission to use any family or tombstone photos, and give me credit for the photo. Thank you.

Thanks for the photo of my great great grandfather's tombstone (and his wife's)
His middle name is spelled with one "L". It is correct at the top of the listing - but misspelled in the section quoting the Phila. Inquirer.
Also - his 3 children from his first marriage are not listed (3 girls - whose mother was Mary Willing Francis). (Their names are Maria Byrd Page, Dorothy Willing Page, and Nancy Francis Page.)
The next 4 children by Susan Grymes Randolph are:
Elizabeth Burwell Page, Mary Francis Page, and Lucy Randolph Page AND Robert Powel Page, Jr., my great grandfather.
Thanks! Cathy Page Raphael, Newark, DE

Thanks Linda for the wonderful pics and making the trip over to Romney. Another contributor had put Katherine Boykin Williams' grave in Camden, SC. That grave maker in Camden was only a memorial, so I am glad you took the pics to show her actual grave. Once again, you are a great treasure in working with me. Nelson

The following memorials you created for Cook are the ones that need to be deleted as they are already memorials that I have created under their correct name of LAGES.
Albert E. Cook (1881 - 1883) was Albert E. Lages
Amelia M. Cook (1855 - 1946) was Amelia M. Lages
Amelia M. Cook (1891 - 1892) was Amelia M. Lages
Charles T. Cook (1878 - 1920) was Charles T. Lages
Charles T. L. Cook (1849 - 1936) was Charles T. L. Lages
George W. F. Cook (1872 - 1883) who was buried next to Albert E. Lages (1881 - 1883) was Amelia M. Lages' son from her first marriage. He was raised in the Lages home and actually died 12 days before her son Albert and that is why their graves were together.
Please delete the above memorials.

I am sorry to say that you have really made a big mistake in creating the memorials that you have for the Cook family. You need to go back and you will find out that most of the people you named Cook are really part of the Lages family. Amelia Cook Lages had 2 sons, one of them buried there in the Lages family plot. He was George W. F. Cook (1872 - 1883). The remainder of the people there are not Cook but they are Lages. If you look up Lages, you will see I have already created memorials for all my family buried there.
i would hope you would delete all the memorials you created because those people never existed.
Thank you for making the correction.
