RE: Phinney's
We are cousins..... My grandfather, Charles E Green was the son of Lucinda Young. She was the daughter of Alvira Young, the daughter of Luther and Mercy Phinney. Elwin and Lucinda would be first cousins. I am a member of the DAR and have proved the line back it Lucind's grandfather Henry Young, but along the was I had to prove all the ancillary relationships with proof for the DAR geanologists. It wasn't easy! Another son of Mercy and Luther Luther B Phinney was the postmaster of Conquest/Cato.

RE: Phinney's
Also, Adolph was also from Syracuse! Where is the link for CLAVIN, LUTHER AND JOHN? There must be something somewhere. The family in Iowa would have had to leard about John from Calvin. Edwin was a teenager when they moved, so the information must have come from Calvin even though Calvin probably never set foot in Vermont!

RE: Phinney's
Oh, Calvin's wife stayed in Syracuse with her family the Wheaton's. I haven't tracked her down. When was the daughter Mercy born? Did her marry again? Naming his daughter his mothers name only firms up my knowledge that Calvin is the son of Luther and Edwin and Ella's father. I still live in Syracuse, a few miles from Cato/Conquest. My great grandmother Lucinda was born there too!

RE: Phinney's
Hi just saw this! Calvin is my Great uncle. He was born in Conquest. His mother's name was Mercy. His parents were Mercy (Billings) and Luther Phinney. I have a copy of Mercy's will where he is named and living in Onondaga County (Syracuse.) the first sons were born in Vermont near where John Phinny died. I can't figure out how cCalvin's daughter Henrietta knew all the correct information about John Phinney, patriot but skips Mercy and Luther, his real parents. I'm sure there is some connection between Luther and John, possibly Luther is his son or brother. I've checked Henrietta's DAR Application and her link from Calvin to John is oral tradition. Do my cousins in Iowa have anything tangible to link the Phinney's of NewYork/Vermont to John Phinney, Revolutionary War Soldier? I have a picture of Luther and Mercy's grave if you would like a copy. Best Wishes, your New York cousin!

Phinney Family
Hi cuz! Somehow we are related! Harriet's father was my grandfathers cousin. My father knew that family went "west" and was never heard from again. I have traced on brother to Wisconsin and Calvin to Iowa. I know the generations seem off but on my side we are all the last of the last child so I jump back quickly. My ggg grandfather was in Revolutionary War and my great uncles were in the Civil War. My email is elegreen49@yahoo.com please contact me! I'm trying to unravel on spot of confusion.

Phinney's
WOW! You are awesome! I am researching the Phinney line, they are my ancestors. Edwin is especially important as well as his parents. The grave you have listed as his parents, the mother died two years before he was born. Do you think they could be the grandparents and his parents are missing or is he the child of a second wife? I REALLY appreciate your help! The Phinney's have been a brick wall! I think you have just knocked it down for me!
