Thank you for the update. Hopefully we'll find that there is a marker, and I'll be able to locate it. Keep me posted.

RE: Richardson memorial in Alaska
You could try one of these emails for information on burials at Valley Memorial. The company runs 2 cemeteries, Valley Memorial and Angelus (in Anchorage). The office is in Anchorage, and this is the contact information:

RE: Richardson memorial in Alaska
I too found the 1910 census after I left my last message. Father's obit saying his son was in Alaska clinches it for me, so I've accepted your edit for linking his father. Thank you!

Richardson memorial in Alaska
I see you requested a photo of a marker. I have walked all the area of that section in Valley Memorial and photographed the markers that I could find. I didn't find one for him. One of these days I will get over there and try to see if any markers have been grown over with sod. I have asked if there were more markers in that section and received no reply. I don't know if the office really knows whether or not that is the case. If you could call the office (907) 344-1311 and ask for plot number and for directions on where that plot is located, that would be a big help. If you are going to call them, let me know and I will send you a map of the cemetery so that their directions will make sense. I guess a bigger help would be to ask if they know whether or not there is a marker.
Although I am careful in my transcriptions, and so is the person who made the list I got the names from, errors do occur. However, this is the name on his social security record and 1940 census. 1930 census it is Redmon. Redmond appears on WWI draft registration and 1920 census. Perhaps this is not the man you are looking for. Or perhaps I have misidentified him. I hope we solve the mystery.

RE: Coykendall
The Coykendall Ave is in the city of Syracuse now, but that too used to be in the Town of Geddes, although outside of the old village in that town. The area where the street is located is near the old Solvay Process (Allied Chemical) and is also near the old Church & Dwight Company and the old Lipe Rollway Co, all big employers in the area back then. The street is two blocks outside of the current Village of Solvay, founded by Solvay Process. The old Gere School used to be about a block from that street too. The original Erie Canal ran through about a block away also, as well as a rail line that passed the street. I used to be the Historian for the Town of Geddes, but the new Historian is Sue Millet and she can be reached at She may some information from before the area was annexed. If I remember right Coykendall was a name from the early parts of the Town.

Hope this helps!
