RE: Corintha Eunice Batey-Conklin
The Daughters of Union Veterans have been honoring Corintha for many years, as they assumed that if she has a military stone issued by the govenment that she was involved in the war along with her husband. The Sons of Union Veterans have listed the Nurses in their data base of veterans as well at

Roach Family
Shar R.,

As a member of the Roach family clan, thank you for creating their members plus taking the time to research to add their children, parents and more linking them all together. Sure makes things easier when trying to link them all together.

The number is her inmate number, I believe. I don't have any more information about her.

RE: George Kyle
Since you found his marker application, he probably does have a stone - I just haven't reached it yet. The soldiers were not buried with their units. Most of the soldiers died at area hospitals, and were buried chronologically, usually the same day they died.

RE: George Kyle
Many of the soldiers' graves had been left unmarked, or with temporary markers. In the 1940s a group (I think it was Daughters of the Confederacy) decided to try to get markers for the graves. Records were gathered from various places - mainly hospitals - and stones were ordered. I think Mrs. Williams must have been a chairperson of the organization, as her name is on most of the orders. They did a pretty good job based on what they were working with, but there are many "record not found" markers. That might mean that the Civil War records were incomplete, and therefore no record of the person. Or that the hospital records had errors, and the person's name was misspelled, or a wrong unit was recorded. Oakland has about 4000 marked soldiers' graves, and about 3000 unmarked. I am slowly photographing the sections. (Blocks D and E are done.)
