More than two decades ago my mother showed me a notebook she used when she was in high school to record some family history. I've been working on our genealogy ever since. Most of my research involves French Canadian and New England families, as well as my husband's Ohio German and Ukrainian roots.
I love the opportunity that Find A Grave offers for helping others find the missing pieces of their family "puzzles".
Santa Fe National Cemetery: Many thanks to Katrina, who has taken over as curator of the International Wargraves account. With her help I have moved almost 4000 erroneous memorials for veterans who are actually buried elsewhere, and we are working on the hundreds of duplicates associated with the same original bad uploads. HOWEVER there are still several thousand bad memorials listed for Santa Fe. Some are inadvertent duplicates, but most are deliberate errors perpetrated by volunteers who repeatedly violate Find A Grave guidelines prohibiting memorials for living spouses as well as memorials added simply because the person served in the military. If the person is not listed in the Santa Fe National section of the VA's Gravesite Locator at http://gravelocator.cem.va.gov/ then they are NOT buried at SFNC.
Please feel free to use any photo I have taken in on-line or personal family trees. It would be nice if you would credit me for the photo.
If a memorial I have added is a family member of yours, I am happy to transfer management. I will also usually transfer out of FAG guidelines if there is a good reason. I am happy to receive edits but please do not ask me to post obituaries unless you wrote them, hold the copyright, or have explicit permission from the writer. This is against Find A Grave policies. Feel free to write a bio yourself paraphrasing the information, but I will remove references to living individuals in most cases for privacy reasons.
Please use the edit tab for corrections and transfer requests, it heads off a lot of potential problems.
Yldefonso Gonzales Luna Duplicate at FTB Thanks for letting me know. I'm not in the habit of creating dups and I know why this one came about. The contributor on the 1st memorial typed his first name incorrect:-(
Duplicate photos Hello, Please consider removing one of the two identical marker photos on Memorial #965504 to allow future visitors to add photos within the free upload limit. Thanks for your work on Findagrave.
RE: 158123137 I stopped in the office today and it is misspelled. He flagged it for correction and replacement, and that could take a month. I'll keep an eye on it. Perhaps add a note to the memorial stating a correction is in progress?
