Being raised in a small town in southeast Kansas family and friends were a very important part of my life. When I was small I loved listening to my parents and grandparents talk of family. I loved meeting older family members and listening to the stories. Even though these people are gone now they are still very much a part of my life, they taught me to nurture and value family, they guided me to become the person I am today.

My parents and grandparents were faithful in visiting cemeteries and remembering and honoring those that have passed. I guess I inherited that love. Therefore, I dedicate my work on Labette County cemeteries and family histories to my parents and grandparents. It is my hope that I can link families together and tell the stories of the pioneers who first came to the area.

NOTE: Any of the pictures that I have entered aren't bound by copyright infringement and can be used in your family trees. OUT OF "RESPECT" FOR THOSE OF US WHO SPEND HOURS AND HOURS AND TRAVEL MANY MILES TO TAKE THESE PICTURES, I WOULD APPRECIATE IT IF YOU WOULD LET ME KNOW BEFORE YOU YOU POST A PICTURE I HAVE TAKEN ON THE INTERNET. ***ALSO: I would appreciate it if you would list your source when posting my photos to or other on-line sites. If you have a question regarding a picture, please feel free to contact me.

I will also transfer a memorial to you if they are your family (with the exception of my direct family). Should you find an error or have additional information on any of the people I have posted, e-mail me. I am always glad to make additions and corrections so that the information is as accurate as possible. It may take me a few days to make a correction, so be patient!

But most of all, thank you to all of those who have posted information and photos on Find A Grave. This is a great resource tool for all of us.

Hello, I found your memorial for Julia Ann Thompson Cockerham this morning. I was just wondering--you

say on her memorial that she was orphaned and raised by her brother, CH Thompson and later Henderson

and Sarah (Wright) Thompson. I am descended from CH Thompson, and on the 1850 census Julia is with CH,

but their mother is also in the home. What is your source for your info? I'm wondering if I've got the wrong

people, or have people mixed up in my tree. Also, who are Henderson and Sarah Thompson to Julia Ann?

I am willing to share whatever info I have on the Thompsons, as they are one of my major lines. Thanks in

(sorry to leave this as a public message--I tried your mail, but it wouldn't go through)

At "Find-a-Grave" your name appears on some of my ancestors records in Labette County, Kansas. Bill Boggess had added information to these records in the past. I understand Bill has passed. So, I'm contacting you to request if you can make changes for me to those records, and to others, in Labette County?

I'm TOM POTTER, b. 4-17-1943, Parsons KS. Grew up in SEK. Mostly, my parents & grandparents were born, raised and are buried in Labette County - Parsons, Labette, Oswego, Altamont, Cherryvale, Montgomery and Morehead, Neosho, Kansas.

Thanks for any help you may provide, Margaret. Please let me know at:

I am the original creator of Brian's memorial. I had a request from his wife to remove the temporary marker as she has updated it. Thank you in advance!

George M Evans
Hello Margaret, I'm looking for a grave of this relative. He was married to Luranah (Anderson) Evans, and his last known location was Mound Valley, Labette KS on the 1880 census. I have other relatives that I know of in Montana KS cemeteries. This relative (George M) is shown to have been born around 1821 and is shown on Ancestry to have died in Kansas City, Jackson county, Missouri, but no date shown. If there is a likely cemetery in or around Mound Valley could you research it for me? Hope this is enough information. Many thanks...
