Bio

My name is Shirley Reeder Storie, My roots go back to Saline Co.IL.I was born in 14 patch in West Ledford in 1946 to John W.and Victoria Brothers Reeder who along with my g-grandparents James Marion and Nettie Wilson Reeder are all buried in the Ledford cemetery. The house I was born in was a four room company home built for the coal miner's of the area,it was located due east across the field from the cem.As a child I saw many burieals take place from our back porch. Some of my neighbors back then were:Frank Crowder and familey, Porters, Beltz's,Gardner's, Cox, Pucket, Ridley,Eddy, Lynch, Carrier, Riley, Hill, Brothers, Brantley, Baker, Booten, Wood. This was a great place to grow up. We had no idea what poor was for everyone was the same.My g-grand father James Reeder in the early 1900's was appointed county sheriff of Ledford an would put Charlie Birger in the pookie on Sat.nights to sober up,and he was given the nick name (Dick) by Charlie. All the men folk in my family were coal miners and proud ones at that. I attended the Ledford church from a baby up until I moved from the area in 1965. My roots run deep in Ledford and I'll always call it home.
