Bio and Links
Bio Photo Hello, We have been active in our ancestral research for about fifteen years now. We got started just about a year before my father died. He was doing some research himself and had documented a makeshift tree. Even though his work was incomplete it gave us the initiative to take it and run with it. Several years later we have over 30,000 people in our tree and have visited several cemeteries in the area where we live. After a few thousand headstones photos taken we are now in the process of uploading them to Find A Grave as well as Ancestry. It has been arduous work but very rewarding to us. Unfortunately, the reason we are adding a bio now is because the efforts we have taken to make sure our relatives are remembered by information here and on Ancestry, is, our photos are being taken without our permission and then claimed by others as their own. We started noticing this about a year ago and started putting a small watermark on the photos. This has not stopped peope from stealing our work. We would rather not put anything on the photos themselves because we believe it takes away form the asthetics of the photo, however, it has become necessary. Now it seems as though even having the small watermark is not enough to deter those who would take what does not belong to them without asking or giving credit. So much for the small watermark. Now you will be finding photos we upload will have GLARING marks on them. Sorry about that.

We are not averse to letting people copy these photos, we just ask that credit be given where credit is due. Just ASK. You might be surprised how willing we are to share. With the proper credit given. Unfortunately, the watermarks will remain.

Because we are not able to travel long distances, we ourselves have taken photos from others on this site "WITH PRIOR PERMISSION" and with due credit given. So, we understand the desire to have a copy of your own.

We have also begun to pursue actions against those who steal.

RE: John and Eliza Rusling headstone
Yes, you may use my photo.

LOL, Galesburg, Michigan has about 1,000 people and one stop light. I usually say Kalamazoo, Michigan because people have heard of that.

Find A Grave Memorial# 142464625:

Greenbrier Co., Virginia, is her birthplace.

Because what was Greenbrier Co. is now in West Virginia you cannot use the "drop down" county/city for the birth. You must actually put in the bio area if you want to note it correctly. That would be nice if you could do that, to clarify for others who may be confused.

No, I am not getting tired of the edits, any time we can make an improvement it should be done. I appreciate getting them. Most of us make mistakes and it is always good to correct them and to enter more information. I do think I will send you the Simkins I have entered in Maq. Cem. I think they should be in the care of their family! Won't do it tonight...to tired, but will do it soon. Thanks again, its a pleasure working with both of you. cj Oh, about the edit I sent to you, I just noticed the year on the monument was different than the one you had so thought I would draw your attention to it.

Thanks for the heads up! I have deleted, changed some spelling, sent an edit and think everything has been or will be taken care of. I double checked the Cemetery book and they had Madge, Gilbert and Margret as Simpkins. If any of the Simkins are your relatives I would be happy to transfer to you. I didn't know them...just tried to get more memorial on Find A Grave. Just send an edit and thanks for letting me know, I sincerely appreciate it! cj
