T/Sgt Kenneth D. Calhoun
T/Sgt Kenneth D. Calhoun was a crewmember of a B-24 bomber that disappeared on a bomb mission to Sicily on 11 July 1943.

T/Sgt Calhoun's body was never found and his name is listed on the Wall of Missing of the North Africa Cemetery in Carthage (Tunisia).

If his remains would have been recovered, he would have been most likely buried in the temporary GELA cemetery in Sicily.

I am writing a book about the GELA cemetery, where over 1,200 men and women were buried between 1943 and 1947. Hope to finished the book next year July 2013.

One chapter of the book will deal about those whose remains were never accounted for.

Can I have your permission to use the picture you took of the Wall of Missing in my book, of course you will be credited and notified when the book is finished.

thank you

A great big belated thanks for posting the photos of our heroes buried at North Africa American Cemetery. I never thought I'd be able to get those. Would it be OK if I use these photos on their web pages on Clemson University's Scroll of Honor Memorial website (

Hi Kurt,
I just wanted to say thank you so much for taking the time to photograph his gravestone. I never expected anyone to do a request in this cemetery, so I was shocked when I got an email saying my photo request was fullfilled. You have no idea how much this means to our family. Im about send some of my relatives the picture right now. Thanks again for everything and for taking such a beautiful photo of his gravestone!

Thank you for taking a picture of his headstone. May I download a copy for my own personal file?

Hi Kurt,
Thank you so much for taking these 2 photos at the North Africa American Cemetery. I really appreciate your taking the time. Who would have ever thought someone would be filling photo requests for me in Tunisia :)
Thanks again!

Oh, Man! Thank you so much for this photo. My heart skipped a beat when I opened this link and saw that photo. I had no idea if this was ever going to show up. With everything that is going on overthere, I hope all is well. I'll be sending a link of this photo to the Major's daughter. Thanks again and Godspeed-John

Thanks so much. I did not think we would be able to see his inscription for a long time.

He died when his B24 was shot down over the Med. sea.

Thanks so much for taking the picture of Vernon's grave in Tunisia. This will mean a lot to my father-in-law, Vernon's nephew. They were close in age, more like cousins. If you could send me the higher resolution photo via email that would mean a lot. dsullivan32 at

Thanks again, David.
