This is the second marker that I know of that has been placed because of a photo request that I tried to fill but had to inquire as to why there wasn't one. I placed a small caption under the photo of his new marker because it was your photo request that was the spark that made it happen. Let me know if there's anything you ever need from Ft Rosecrans or Miramar Ntl.

Good news - They have placed a new stone for him and I've uploaded a photo of it for you.

I really enjoy taking the photos and then reading about these guys afterward. I actually meant to research if he had an actual grave but was smoked by the time I got to the car and forgot! I'll get it done this week coming. Also, you may notice a few that have just a picture of the Lady of Columbia statue up, its because my pic was out of focus or I didn't get their full info, I'll get those also soon.
If you ever make it out here, let me know.

Your welcome, glad to help out anytime. I also found another McClure family member, Hobert Johnson, he or she must be Homer's twin sibling because of their birth dates (both Homer and Hobert were born on December 2,1910). Alma Johnson is buried next to Hobert or will be buried next to Hobert since there is no death date on Alma's stone.

Back in November you had requested a photo for Jesse's memorial. I had responded that the cemetery didn't have him in their records. I kept the request because of the "Headstone Applications for Military Veterans" thinking that I'd pursue it after Christmas. Last week another request came in and I again went into the office to check. The counselor went back into their archive records and found the original index card from 1949. There was an issue between the death year and the interment year (1944 vs. 1949). I've posted the photos to his memorial.

You are most welcome. Thank you for requesting the photo.

You're welcome. This was not the first request for a photo of his stone, which is why I posted the photo of the interment card that is at Ft Rosecrans. I actually looked at the card when I asked at the office for information. I will check with them periodically to see if the stone ever reflects his name or they update his plot number.

No problem. My father was a waist gunner in the 8th Air Force and my Mom's family goes back to the Revolution. I have a soft spot in my heart for military men.
It is a wonderful thing that you are doing. Keep up the good work.

No problem. His story is an eventful one.

Mike, We divided up the work! Marshall made an excellent spreadsheet that listed the graves by section and row. We got a babysitter and left our kids at home (2 and 5 yrs old), and then once we got there we just divided the cemetery in half and I took pictures in one half, and he took the other. We met in the middle. :) It only took a few hours, but the thing that is taking the longest is the uploading, because our German internet is so slow! We have more pictures to upload, hopefully we can get it finished in the next few days!
