Thank you so much for finding that information. I would like to know exact date he was killed. I don't know why he doesn't have a military head stone. And his siblings are all gone now. And I don't believe he is even mentioned in any obituary. I am just curious…… What prompted you to find this information on him? Are you related? Do you know if a family member has to order it? As far as I know, he did not have a wife or kids. Any more help from you would be greatly appreciated.

RE: Richard Brown Sponsorship
Hope you don't mind but I had made a note to look through your entries to see if I could find your father. I am pretty sure I located him. I placed his site with those of mine that I visit every Saturday morning (a little ritual of mine). I hope you won't mind if I leave a token for him once a week, just let me know if you would rather I did not. To put it mildly, what a hero. Such a interesting biography and it comes on the heels of my having just read "Killing Patton" so the politics of the era and many of the things going on during WWII are fresh in memory. My father was a "lifer", 23 years, US Army, WWII and Korea, as well. I stumbled into your "Those To Whom We Owe Our Freedom" and will be returning to that as time allows. Thank you for doing that.

Lt. John Braxton Woodall, USMCR (Deceased)
Wings 214,
Thank you for your prompting. I have added three more items to the Woodall Memorial. When you get a chance, check them out. As you suggested, I have included the Silver Star Citation.

Richard Brown Sponsorship
I thank you for the sponsorship of the site for Richard Brown, as well as the photographs of his site. The photographs are a rich enhancement to his site. I noted that the headstone did not denote his Distinguished Service Cross, which is not unusual. The award of the DSC is a lengthy process in itself and is sometimes compounded by the fact that many of these recipients are initially recommended for the Medal of Honor. In that process, which can take many months, even years, the recommendation has to be approved by the Secretary of each branch of the Service before going forward. Ergo, his DSC was awarded a considerable time after his demise. At any rate, your sponsorship of his site is greatly appreciated and so befitting of his accomplishment and I thank you for doing that, as well as the extremely well done photographs.
