Bio and Links
Bio Photo Transfer requests:

As of May 26, 2013, I am reserving the right not to make transfers of memorials to contributors who shield their identity by being "Anonymous" in their screen names, especially if their profile pages disable messages and email contact.

My belief is that contributors and managers of memorials should be held to a high degree of responsibility to honor the deceased, and the use of "Anonymous" for a screen name, and disabling of email and message contacts concerns me greatly as to how memorials would be or are managed.

As others do, I enjoy walking the cemeteries in response to a single photo request and then finding many additional family members that someone requesting the initial photo was unaware of. My record so far was finding over 50 family individuals in three cemeteries as a result of a single photo request made for this area! They are now each with memorials, links, often obituary information, and headstone photos.

It is good to know that these deceased families and individuals are now remembered.

I have also documented with memorials and, if possible, headstone photos, several entire small, rural cemeteries to keep them preserved for future generations.

As needed, I use the genealogy resources of the Jefferson County Genealogy Society at the Fairfield Public Library (Fairfield, Iowa) for much of my local "documentation" and sourcing; I also take advantage of the courthouse vital records and probate materials to examine first hand some of the materials that help me put on genealogy information and determine relationship links for my memorials, and to suggest corrections or updates to memorials made by other contributors where possible. Of course, there are online genealogy websites that I often use as well to confirm or not confirm some family information and relationships.

------
Note: I (and others) also have contributed headstone photos to Iowa Gravestones Photo Project website for linking purposes from the IaGenWeb.org/Jefferson county genealogy website. My screenname on IGPP is "thompsonrb" (which provides an email link to me).
-------
I strive to have my memorials as accurate as possible but errors or mis-information in my sources happens. If you see errors or corrections, I'm glad to make them. "Edit"/SAC is best, but direct emails or public messages are ok. If not by SAC try to provide the memorial number because just providing names doesn't alway ensure I know who you are wanting updated, especially in cases where there are fathers and sons with the same name. My Ouiji board is broken and I can't read minds.

The new edit system now allows for suggested links to parents and spouses - for the most part I'll accept them "as is", but reserve the right to verify if possible.

**Caution: sending spouse links to memorials that already have spouse links to the same person will, unless the new edit system is revised, result in inadvertent duplicate spouse links (Note: and if there is already a spouse link in place but 'your' relationship edit for parents does not include a spouse, then the edit request will inadvertently remove the spouse link already in place). Although the new edit system allows for parent and spouse links to be suggested as part of one edit, please be sure that a spouse link does not already exist on that memorial. Entering the same memorial # for a spouse of a particular memorial can cause that spouse to show up on the memorial multiple times. It is probably best to only send parent links as one new edit, and spouse links as a separate edit, so if the duplicate spouse link situation is caught then that edit can be declined without being forced to also decline parent links that may well be otherwise acceptable.**

I much prefer working with contributors who use their real names rather than initials or quirky screen names. I'm a bit old fashioned: in real life I address people by their given name, unless they use a 'regular' nickname. Getting or sending contacts to others who use only initials (gender non-specific) or quirky screen names is not how I was raised to address people, especially since memorials on FindAGrave are for people with real given names.

Being forced to send a SAC to another contributor as "Dear RubberDuckyLover" devalues the respect that I feel that the deceased deserve.

RE: Loren Willis Parker death location
Thank you for updating the memorials I have recently sent edit/suggestions requests. The time you spend helping Find A Grave members such as myself is greatly appreciated.

I agree that the place of death for Loren Willis Parker is puzzling. My source was the S.S. Index record-

Name:
Loren W. Parker
SSN:
481-14-5622
Last Residence:
90808 Long Beach, Los Angeles, California, USA

BORN:
18 Jun 1918

Died:
20 Nov 2000

State (Year) SSN issued:
Iowa (Before 1951)

Granted there could be another person by the same name with the same DOB,DOD, and SS card issued in Iowa. His father was a minister/evangelist and several of his 6 siblings followed in his footsteps. The family lived in several states- PA, IL, and IA.

It's a stretch on my part that Loren died in Long Beach, possible second residence. Iowa WWII case record and census records lists his place of birth as Hillsboro, IL. So with that said, maybe it's best to decline my suggestion and go by the obit since that was most likely written by the family.

Again thanks for all your help & contacting me.

Re: Mary Alice Cole Smith 26787535
I am working to link all my Cole families together. Would you mind linking her in with her parents, Perry 8960964, and mom Laura 11723923. Or if you want to just transfer her to me, that would be good too. Trying to link them all while I still have time.

Your profile
Richard,
I love the profile and I totally agree with you. I also feel that to use the photos without acknowledging the contributor is THEFT no matter if you got permission or not.

Thought you'd like to know - the parents you cite as 'likely' are his parents - Jacob Wright & Rebecca Groce.

Sarah Wilson at Lecky's
Richard, I started doing Lecky's graveyard because of my Bolsinger ancestor's there and no one had put the cem. up at that time. Another descendant had a contact who came out to take photos, as I live in WA state. We had list of who was there and I went off the list or if he found one under brush, he put it up. I'm not related to the Wilson's as far as I know, anyway. I strive for accuracy, not numbers as you can see my numbers up are small because they are mostly family & friends. I don't like having duplicates up. So I am perplexed about what to do about this. So I think I will just give the management to you and you can decide how to cover this one. How do you feel about that? Dona
ps. My computer has been hacked twice so I took to using gentracker then lost it when hacked and started over with genlooker. My name is out there all over the place though I try to be more careful. I always was careful but...

Wilson family data
I submitted an edit to Rachel (Wilson) Hampson Find A Grave Memorial# 90847736. Her date of birth and place of birth will be, of course, the same as her twin brother's (Rev. David Wilson) who is buried in Uniontown Cemetery, Carroll County, Maryland. Thanks for all the work you are doing, on behalf of descendants...

Hampson family data
Have submitted an edit for Joseph Hampson, using the information on his California death certificate. His father's name on the certificate is given as John W[ilson] Hampson and the block for mother's name is blank. Now seeing this, I understand that this is the nephew of the Joseph Hampson whom you list as a child of George and Rachel (Wilson) Hampson. The uncle married his first cousin Blanche Wilson. I don't suppose we know where he and she might be buried? It is that older Joseph, and not the younger man who died from TB, who was in business with my gt-gt-uncle John Franklin Wilson in the country of Mexico up to 1910. At least we have cleared that part up. Feel free to ask me about the many Huntingdon County natives buried in Jefferson County, Iowa, if any question comes to mind. I can look up many things in Huntingdon. I am a Stever, Miller, and Wilson descendant; also those families were intermarried with other Jefferson Co. pioneer families as well.
