Bio and Links
Bio Photo Amateur photographer in Massachusetts who has always enjoyed wandering through cemeteries and taking photos. Discovery of Find A Grave now gives me an excuse to get out with my camera and take photos.

And yes, my profile image is indeed from an actual headstone in the Forefathers Burial Ground of Chelmsford, Massachusetts for Oliver Fletcher (d.1771) (Find A Grave Memorial# 18168422).

Duplicates were due to different spellings. Photos moved and duplicate memorials removed.

Thanks for the heads up about the duplicate photos. I have fixed it. :)

Why post a photo of the memorial for this man if you don't want it used on Ancestry?

Eleazer Hamlin
Thanks for making the update on Eleazer Hamlin.

While I'm at it, here's some more info on him. He had three wives and 17 children, and one of his grandchildren, Hannibal Hamlin, was Lincoln's vice president for his first term. One of his descendants wrote a book about him. Here's the link:

On page 12 there's a listing of his wives and children.

I think you may have the wrong birthdate for Eleazer Hamlin (#71828960). The Eleazer Hamlin buried here died in 1807 and was 75 years old, so he was born around 1732. He is the son of Benjamin Hamlin (1692-1737)

There was another Eleazer Hamlin born in 1723, the son of Eleazer Hamlin (1699-1771). He died around 1781.

RE: images both correct and sideways, depending on where you view them
Yes, I use iPhoto when I'm editing from home. The variously-rotated ones seem to be the ones I edited on a PC using Microsoft Office's photo editing software. I hardly ever use the findagrave app because it isn't very convenient, but every once in a while I'll check something on a memorial and get surprised with a rotated image. Super annoying.

RE: images both correct and sideways, depending on where you view them
Ok, I think I get it. It makes me want to go back and fix the affected photos so they are upright no matter where they are viewed, but there are hundreds of them. It is going to drive the OCD part of me a little nuts. I edit on both a macbook Air and a PC. I think it is the PC edits that are causing the trouble. I'm going to have to start looking at this as I move forward. Thanks for the wisdom!

HI Patrick...what is your source for her middle name having a double L to begin with? I do see it Lavon, but never Llavon. Nancy

images both correct and sideways, depending on where you view them
Hi Patrick. I am wondering if you experience the same thing I do... I upload to the site from my computer that I originally shot with my iphone. Viewing them on the site from my laptop/desktop, they are properly oriented, but when I look at them either via the f-a-g app, or just from my iphone via accessing the site, they are sideways. Memorial#117338680 is just one example selected at random. It drives me crazy. I think it has something to do with my editing. You are a photographer - any ideas?
