Hi! Welcome to my little part of the world at Life in the Past Lane. [Online 10 years but offline for now]
Honoring the past generations, helping families to find their ancestors and finding out how many of us all have a connection and many more cuzins than we ever dreamed. Finding our ancestors and walking through the lands of times past.

I only work on genealogy on days ending in "Y" ©

For the cuzins I have met previously "Hi" and for the new cuzins I hope to meet "HI" to you to.
We have many many paths to walk that our ancestors walked, and our time here is in honor to them.

6-2013 NOTICE: PHOTOS of family members of my current lines - DO NOT TAKE without asking!!!! I have recently found my parents grandparents aunts uncles on other personal sites and have NO IDEA of when the cuzin took them or who they are. We are online to share information with family: BUT not without asking .. COPYRIGHT photos of precious parent /family photos etc are NOT TO BE TAKEN!!
Ask and see what happens ;-> !!!!

I leave "Daisys" on all family members that are in my data and lines [direct and extended].
I leave other flowers for memorials I have help link up and/or helped someone else with.
Other flowers also can mean I havent located or logged them in my data . We all have ALOT of branches and trees to climb and explore.

I do enter cemeteries when possible. It is to help others find their family members as well as it probably has an ancestor or two of mine.
I am not about numbers , I am about family and heritage and our ancestors. If I have a memorial that is part of your family line, I dont mind transfering [as long as it isnt part of my direct]. If I have made an error, just let me know and if I have dupped in error. Just let me know where and who. We have many generations , with so many simular names - errors are possible . But puzzles are so much fun finding validation of one piece at a time, till the picture among the pieces start to take form.

I do choose to post death certificates. DC's help with family medical history documenting. We all need to know what our family medical history was/is also.

Dates on papers, bibles, headstones, & certificates may vary. We are working through our families pasts and lives and getting the dates may sometimes be the best drawn conclusion that is to be drawn.

NOTE: Articles written and submitted/posted are by the original persons. If credit is available , it will be noted. Photos belong to original holders and shared here for personal notation only. No profit gains are made. No copyright infringement or plagiarism intended.

My immediate direct lines I am working with are:
Ward, Pennington, [Taylor-Gardner] Chapman, Lawless
Direct GG+ Grandparent lines:
Adkins, Anderson, Bawle, Beaumont, Belcher, Blevins , Brockett, Canoe, Carpenter, Cock, Coleman, +++[will update list again]

My Mother Mary Jane Gardner Taylor passed away Dec 26,2011. She did so enjoy learning of all my new finds and helping as she could, to fill in missing information and facts. She will be greatly missed by so many family members and friends.

My Uncle James Edward Gardner mothers' last brother passed away April 8 2012. Such a sad feeling of seeing the family lines end, but the next geneation now becomes the "Elders".

I saw behind me those who had gone, and before me those who are to come. I looked back and saw my father and his father and all our fathers, and in front to see my son and his son, and the sons upon sons beyond. And their eyes were my eyes. As I felt so they had felt, and were to feel, as then, so now, as tomorrow and forever. Then I was not afraid, for I was in a long line that had no beginning and no end. And the hand of his father grasped my father's hand and his hand was in mine, and my unborn son took my right hand and all, up and down the line that stretched from Time That Was to Time That Is and Is Not Yet, raised their hands to show the link. And we found that we were one....

From: "How Green Was My Valley", by Richard Llewellyn

A Prayer for Genealogists
Lord, help me dig into the past
And sift the sands of time,
That I might find the roots that made
This family tree of mine.

Lord, help me trace the ancient roads
On which my fathers trod,
And led them through so many lands
To find our present sod.

Lord, help me find an ancient book
Or dusty manuscript
That's safely hidden now away
In some forgotten crypt;

Lord, let it bridge the gap that haunts
my soul when I can't find
The missing link between some name
that ends the same as mine.

WARNING....GENEALOGY POX; [very contagious to adults]

Continual complaints as to need for names, dates and places. Patient has blank expression, sometimes deaf to spouse and children. Has no taste for work of any kind, except feverishly looking through records at libraries, courthouses and internet, Has compulsion to write letters and send e-mail. Swears at mailman when he doesn't stop and leave mail. Frenquents strange places such as cemeteries, ruins and remote desolate country areas. Makes secret night calls. Hides phone bills from spouse and mumbles to [him or her] self. Has strange far away look in eyes.

Medication is useless. There is no known cure. Disease is not fatal, but gets progressively worse. Patient should attend genealogy workshops, subscribe to genealogy magazines and be given a quiet corner in the house where he or she can be alone.

The unusual nature of this disease is...the sicker the patient gets, the more he or she seems to enjoy it!

Williams & Adams Families
Hi Victoria, I have been searching for a home cemetery that may have been named later in time. A fellow researcher gave me this note over ten years ago. Can you tell me anything about this cemetery?

Note: The farm home of Wm. & Nancy Adams Williams was located on the Long Branch road about 1 1/2 miles north east of what is now the Court House in West Liberty, Kentucky. The old log cabin was situated on the west side of the new and improved road which has been built since they resided there.
Across the new road or on the east side is the old store building, which is still in use. The old log cabin in which Wm.& Nancy Adams Williams raised their family, burned to the ground and was replaced by a small frame house. This was later torn down and was replaced by a nice 1 1/2 story frame, by the new owner, Mr. & Mrs. Clyde Cantrell, who also own and run the store.

Any help would be greatly appreciated as I can't find anything about this cemetery on the site.

My great great grandfather was Kirby Smith Williams and on his death certificate it says buried in home grave yard. The same for many of the Adams family.

I wondered why?
From you:
I was attempting to link daughter Stella
seems father Thomas is ok to link but it is saying mother's memorial is deleted 118774523
so since it was still showing on husband Thomas ..I edit click sent removal of her number..Vickie

Until I tried to link them I couldn't figure out why in the world you would want me to make such a move. I have now redone the memorial for I say to you "link away my friend, link away"

Skidmore Connection
Hi, Victoria. I saw you have corresponded with Michelle Beavers-Modglin. Her father is my first cousin. My grandfather was Claude Embry Skidmore, buried in the Mannsville Cemetery. I noticed your message to Michelle about being cousins. What is your relation to the Skidmore family?

RE: re Joseph Barron115778165
Victoria, So sorry I I did not reply,.....Joseph is not buried with his wife. So sorry to report that he is in a under a grove of trees, visited by our bovine relations on a regular basis. I have heard that it was a Slave Graveyard, it is named so.
I'll send the location if you like.
All my best. Ty
