| Bio and Links | | I'am originally from Hagerstown, Maryland. I now live in Lakeland, Florida with my two cats Dusty and Dooney. I love all animals but cats are my favorite. I'am a member of the SPCA and very passionate about spaying and neutering animals. I cannot stand anyone who abuses animals or children. My ancestors are the McDevitts Seals, Capleys, Mericas, Shomettes, Stacks, Epards, Middletons and Loadman. There's probably more. My cousin says we are related to Patsy Cline. But I'am mainly trying to find more out about my 3'rd Great Grandfather Charles McDevitt. He was born 1805 in Ohio. And married Nancy Bowman on Feb. 25, 1830. He was a farmer and had quite a few children. I know the names of the children and where they are buried. I cannot find where Charles is buried or anything about his parents. I'am also trying to find out where we come from in Ireland. I have a Great Grandmother Nellie Capley McDevitt who was born on June 10, 1872 in New York City. Her parents Thomas Capley and Rachel Birmingham Capley both passed away in 1878. We don't know from what. Nellie was a orphan at age 6 and rode the Orphan Train out west to Illinois. She married my Great Grandfather William McDevitt. She passed away at a young age on July 5, 1919 at the age of 47 from heart problems. It breaks my heart didn't she have any cousins, aunts, uncles, brothers, sisters, or grandparents that could take her in. We don't know. My father was a young boy then but he remembers the trips from Washington, D.C. to Illinois. And says she had pretty red hair. | |
