Bio and Links
Bio Photo I have been interested in my Family History for most of my life; My Father's side of the family came primarily from Scotland and England (although many remain there still), with some of them settling in Ontario, Canada, a few on to Michigan, Massachusetts, Rhode Island and many to California. My Mother's maternal side of the family gave us those who came from Germany and settled in Wisconsin; her paternal side gave us the people who came from Scotland and Ireland and settled mostly in Virginia. With time, many found their way across the United States and ended up staying in California, with others remaining in States along the way. Now, my children are researching their Father's side, who are mainly from Ireland, with many who settled in Connecticut. So, as with most people, we are scattered all over the World.

Wallace, Armstrong, Newman, Brown, Jameson, Youell, McCutcheon, Boyd, Hodge, Porterfield, McCreary, Crawford, Callison, Graham, Nelson, Young, Hobson, Stone, Hannagan, Parker, Allan, Ogilvie, Colleby, White, Place, Gilders, Graf, Netcher, Schuster, Schultz, Keller, Debrey, Board, McCann, Phelon, Gregan, Hayes…...

and, of course, all of the families who joined ours by marriages.....Binford, Coffman, Craig, Devenny, Steptoe, Yancey, Glass, Glover, Guerrant, Shiflett, Chewning, Fry, Via, Sitlington, Gorman, Campbell, Dyche, Sherman, Bretschneider, Fassett, Moore, Thompson, Duarte, Correia.....

The more I find, the more there is yet to find.

Capt. Alfred Goddin
Hi Diane,

I finally got a reply back from Hollywood concerning Alfred Goddin. They have record of his interment as July 15, 1940.

I'm not sure if they mean his ashes, body, or the erection of the cenotaph?

I'll contact them again to see if they can clarify.

You mentioned that you have more information on him. These Goddins in this section of Hollywood are my cousins. I am very interested in learning what you have.

All the best,
Sandy
P.S.
I also plan to go out there very soon and get a picture of his stone.

Hi Diane, I posted a little better, less blurry photo of her grave marker to your memorial (93437381). With the lovely photos you posted of her and her bio, maybe re-arrange the photos so the the picture I posted is not at the front of her memorial? If you would prefer that I just remove the photo, let me know and I will.

Mary Abbott
That's a great bio! Thank you for sending it to me. I added all of it to her memorial. I'm going to the cemetery in a few weeks and will try to find their headstones.
Thanks again!

Are you sure it's the correct Mary Miller Abbott? That would make her mother, Mary Miller 90597474, about 46 or 47 when Mary had her daughter Mary. And her siblings 19 and 22 years older than Mary the daughter.

Mary Casey
Hi Diane, I just got home from Holy Cross and took two photos of the plot where Mary Casey is buried (beside her husband James). Unfortunately, you will see that there is no marker on her grave. I will remove the photos if you do not want them here.

Best regards,

Capt. Alfred Goddin, Jr.
Hi Diane,

You sent me a message concerning the grave of Alfred Goddin, Jr. A stone is in his family section at Hollywood for him. It may be a cenotaph. I'll try and get a photograph of it the next time I'm out there (which is often).

You say you have more information on him. Are you related to him?

RE: Renix Hodge
Hi Diane, I was hoping we could exchange notes and see how we are related. I'm a distant cousin of William Renick Hodge, who was killed during the Civil War. I think his father was Renix Hodge, whose memorial you manage.
Take care! Kym Hodge

John Graham Davidson
Hi, I was just wondering if you were related to the Davidson's or Dill's. I am trying to find a connection between John Davidson and James Berlin Dill, who was born in Kentucky. In the 1900 census for Richmond, VA, James is residing with John and Lillian Davidson, listed as John's cousin. I have been doing research on the Dill family for several years. My g-grandfather's sister was Cora Jane Lyle Dill, wife of James Isaac Dill. I am looking for James B. Dill's parents. I would appreciate any info you could help me with.

RE: McDonough Family
Hello Diane,

My mother was raised by Julia and James P "Doc" McDonough. They had no children of their own. She was taken in as a foster child when she was six year around 1934 during the depression era. My siblings were brought up knowing the McDonoughs as their grandparents. I was born after Doc had died and when Julia was very sick. I have a foggy memory of her. My mother was always very thankful for what they did for her and our family.
Thanks for the information and if I can provide any to you let me know. My mom is 86 and could answer questions you have.
Kind Regards,
Brian
