THE RECORDING OF A CEMETERY
BY THELMA GREENE REAGAN
Today we walked where others walked
On a lonely, windswept hill;
Today we talked where others cried
For loved ones whose lives are stilled.
Today our hearts were touched
By graves of tiny babies;
Snatched from the arms of loving kin,
In the heartbreak of the ages.
Today we saw where the grandparents lay
In the last sleep of their time;
Lying under the trees and clouds -
Their beds kissed by the sun and wind.
Today we wondered about an unmarked spot;
Who lies beneath this hollowed ground?
Was it a babe, child, young or old?
No indication could be found.
Today we saw where Mom and Dad lay.
We had been here once before
On a day we'd all like to forget,
But will remember forever more.
Today we recorded for kith and kin
The graves of ancestors past;
To be preserved for generations hence,
A record we hope will last.
Cherish it, my friend; preserve it, my friend,
For stones sometimes crumble to dust
And generations of folks yet to come
Will be grateful for your trust.
WILL AND TESTAMENT
WHEN I DIE I WILL NOT END
THO MY BODY TURNS TO DUST.
I'LL TRAVEL WIDELY THROUGH THE STARS
WITH FEWER CARES, I TRUST.
SO FIND A PLACE TO LAY MY BONES
MY MUSCLE, HAIR, AND SKIN.
THEN PLANT A TREE ATOP MY CHEST
FOR LIFE TO START AGAIN.
LET HER ROOTS ENTWINE MY RIBS
AND TEAR APART MY COFFIN.
IT MATTERS NOT THE LEAST TO ME,
I'LL BE IN HER BRANCHES, LAUGHIN'.
WHEN I'VE PUNCHED MY TIME ON EARTH,
WITH NO MORE NEED OF CLOCKS,
I'LL GO TO FIND THE NEXT NEW ME.
PLANT THIS LAST ME IN A BOX.

You're welcome, Jerry!
|Lane Hogaboam||Ladner marker Kelowna|
On the Ladner marker it reads H.H. Ladner could that mean Henry and Hulda Ladner. When I went and took the picture Henry did not have a marker, but the one for Hulda looks like it might have have one of the inscription plaques missing. (I have seen several where this has happened as they are just screwed in. As they are both listed as being buried in the same plot I am going to add his name to the marker already there.
