Bio Photo Live in Mount Carmel,Pennsylvania. Trying to find other family members of Harold Seibert Miller(father),John Seibert Miller(Gf),William Miller(Ggf)Lafayette Derr(MGgf),Israel Derr(MGGgf),John William Boyer(MGf), Joseph Boyer(MGGf). Also related to the Weikels, Kerstetters and Updegrove(sp?)

After being called out by someone for misinformation, I would like to set the record straight. I spent over 12 years of my life reading 104 years of local newspapers in the Mount Carmel and Shamokin Pennsylvania area. My data comes from personally reading every obituary printed in those papers. Additional data was taken directly from death records read by me. Those records were taken directly from the death certificates written by the attending doctor/coroner upon that person's death. My "Lost Little Angels" & "Lost Angel" data was taken from their obituary or death certificate. I trust the doctor's information but the newspaper data I took with a grain of salt as the saying goes.

That's because after doing my research, I found out that reporters back then did not necessarily care if what they reported was correct or correctly spelled. A prime example was the death of a child named "Kulick" (correct spelling). One local newspaper had it correct, the other had it spelled "Coolick". The worse misspelling I found was this example. The one obituary listed the name as "Isaback", the correct spelling was "Eisenbaugh" and people wonder why they can't find their ancestor with reporters like this, that made these examples. So if the data I post is incorrect, don't kill the messenger, blame the reporter who didn't give a cr@p to make sure they reported the right information. I can only post the information taken from the obituary, how am I suppose to know if said information was incorrect. I tried to look for updated obituaries to make sure I had the right data but most times there was only one obituary and that's what I used. Please accept my apology for venting on here but I have spent a good part of my life trying to help fellow genealogist and to be called out because of misinformation hurt me.

As far as changing incorrect information, I am happy to do so. I am also willing to transfer any memorial. As most people know, it is very difficult to read sandstone headstones, especially if they're weathered. So please take the time to read any stone you may be concerned about the information I may have used. After all it is very subjective material and open for interpretation. Using special filters, I gave it my best shot but I'm not sure on some stones and even went back to actually feel the lettering or numbers, it's still guess work in some cases.

As I have stated above, reporters didn't care how they spelled a persons' name, as many of you have found out. To try to help ease this problem, I came up with the idea of including those names that I knew were misspelled and included them in my Virtual Cemeteries for the "Lost Little Angels" & "Lost Angels". Since you're looking for an ancestor in my memorials, I figured you might not know how they were misspelled and end up not finding them. Because of them being misspelled, I could not figure out where they were supposed to be buried and I ended up listing them as "Unknown" burial places. So I urge you to click on both of these virtual cemeteries and see if you can figure out how the reporter might have screwed them up. From experience, I can tell you that they slaughtered the names, especially the names of people from European countries. If you have family from the Mount Carmel, Pennsylvania, USA area, please, PLEASE check out the two virtual cemeteries and read EVERY name, especially if you can't find them anywhere else.

PLEASE feel free to visit my "Lost Little Angels" & "Lost Angels" Virtual Cemeteries anytime and leave them a Flower or Note. These children & adults are lost in time because they have no headstone to tell us where they are buried in a cemetery or even on a family plot. My own twin brother and sister Daniel & Nancy Miller are a part of this group. So is my Maternal Great Grandmother. Records usually don't help, they simply say yes, they're here but where, we don't exactly know. Just remember, you may be the only other person beside myself to visit a "Lost Little Angel" or "Lost Angel". Some of these lost children may not even have a living ancestor,"PLEASE VISIT THEM". Thank You from the bottom of My Heart.

For those memorials that have the phrase "Date obituary appeared in the paper," the paper I am referring to is one of the following from Mount Carmel, Pennsylvania, United States:

The Weekly Item
The Semi-Weekly Item
The Mount Carmel Item (Daily paper)
The Daily News

The obituary you seek, will be somewhere in one of these Mount Carmel papers, depending on what date they were published. Do not be disappointed if the obituary has very little information written in it, some were very short in content and some only mentioned the name. Many times, I tried to correct the name. Because as I stated above, reporters care very little on the spelling of a persons' name. So they spelled it "phonetically", which can change the actual spelling of a persons' name very dramatically. I tried my very best not to make mistakes but sometimes with very little information to work with, I may have placed someone in the wrong cemetery, spelled the name incorrectly or connected two family members together who were not husband and wife and things like that. I'm only human and humans make mistakes.

Mr. Miller - thank you for your years of hard work compiling a database of obituaries at the Mt Carmel library. Yesterday I sent them $20 to copy some obits to fill in gaps in my genealogical research. I've been researching the Vitacco family since the 1970s (when I had to go to the MC library in person to read old papers). Why do you think that Mrs. Antonio Vitacco (d 1918) is buried in St Ed's cemetery? I thought she was with her husband D.A Vitacco in the Heights. It's been 40 years since I tromped through the Catholic cemetery in MH but I think she is there.
Please see the history of the family which my cousin compiled and I edited. We sent it to the Mormons and they turned it into a pdf at
Thanks again for all your hard work!

William H. Faust (1898-1968)
I see you have created the memorials for Walter & Ruth Kramer. William H. Faust is also buried at this site. His name and dates appear on the right side of the Kramer stone. William's parents were William H. Faust (1871-1943), Protestant Cemetery, Nesquehoning and Sarah (Sipple) Faust (1874-1911), Odd Fellows Cemetery, Tamaqua. William never married and lived with his aunt Ruth (Sipple) Kramer. William inherited the homestead. William's brother Robert L. Faust was also raised by Ruth, built a home just down the road on the same property. Robert is the grandfather of Ronald Mausteller of Catawissa.
Thought you might like to include a memorial for William. No wife or children, he would be soon forgotten.

RE: Quinton transfers.

Thanks for the information, and for handing over care of the memorials to me - I'll take good care of them.

It looks like an older stone, so I'm guessing it would be in the older section, although I'm confused about that. Newer and older stones seem to be intermingled in this cemetery.

Also, would you know whether Locust Gap burials are in this cemetery? I'm looking for gravestones from there from the late 1800s.
