Also - many of you have graciously taken my headstone photo requests. I haven't said "Thank you" enough. Be assured, every one I look at I always think about the volunteers who spend precious time doing something for me. I'M VERY GRATEFUL.

For those that are grieving, for any reason actually, there is a book I highly recommend; - almost a requirement, really. James C. Dobson, "When God Doesn't Make Sense" 2013, Tyndale House Publisher's, Inc.

Page 88 change my fear after 33 years of asking God "Why". Because I didn't have that answer, I was in mental bondage to fear, anxiety, hopelessness. Quoting:

"Probably the most important thing I learned in this entire process is this: I became deeply aware that there were TWO CHOICES that I could make. One was to continue in my anger at God and follow the path of despair I was on. The other choice was to let God be God, and somehow say, 'I don't know how all this fits together.'

And let God be God.

Hope you read this book. It offers hope for those who suffer.

Bless you all

Ruth Johnson
You requested a photo of Ruth Johnson in Fairview, NJ. In your note you think she was born in 1835. According to the memorial it says died 2004 at age 97. I am a little confused.

Upset again!!!
Well, I started to post some pictures of my relative's graves. There is a mass poster again..all the info wrong..takes no messages..does no work except trying to manage the most memorials. UGH! So, I guess I will be off-line again. What is the point of posting photos for memorials that are incorrect and the person does not care enough to want messages? I am going to do research now for individual requests only:)

RE: Hi Gwyn
Sorry I didn't check messages before now. Hope all is well. Friedens is confusing. Do you have some questions yet?

Dear Sally,

When I get back to the historical society, which I'm not sure when, as I'm presently not researching anything, I'll see what I can do. The books of which I am referencing are not online.

RE: Hello

You are most welcome. I haven't been able to do so lately as I've had nothing but computer problems. Some day when I get the extra money to get it fixed or get a new one, I will be back in action taking photos. I am guessing that some of the requests were for you. Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family.

I read the amazingly brave and beautiful message you left at Emily Parker's memorial. Thank you for reminding everyone so clearly the great lesson of our Heavenly Father's design for our lives. THANK YOU>

RE: Friedens cemeteries - I'm very confused
The Friedens Lutheran Church located in Friedensville is in Center Valley, south of Allentown. It has nothing to do with the Friedens Church located in Washington Township. Several cemeteries for that church were created and Find A Grave merged them, which is why they are listed the way you see them.

RE: Friedens cemeteries - I'm very confused
Sally, I know what Friedens UCC is. You previously posted photos of their UCC signs on the correct church/cemetery for Friedens Church Cemetery. Friedens Church in the village of Friedens in Washington Township is currently a United Church of Christ. It was originally a Union Church, which meant that both Evangelical Lutheran and Reformed Lutheran services were held in the church. Reformed Lutheran churches became the United Church of Christ about 1956. I thought you were stating that there was a separate cemetery on Find A Grave for Friedens UCC, which I was unable to locate. The Church connected to Friedens Church Cemetery is now (as stated above) Friedens United Church of Christ.

RE: Hello Lynn
The cemetery is at Heidelberg Union Church which has a Slatington address, even though it's not really near Slatington. The church is just about a mile away from Saegersville which is about 2 miles from Germansville.

I think it is correct to refer to the cemetery as the Heidelberg Union Church Cemetery. The very oldest tombstones are near the church on its south side and the later tombstones are on the hill behind the church on its north side.

The church still has a Lutheran and a UCC congregation (the old Reformed) which both hold services every Sunday morning. I play in the bell choir at the church, but am not a member and do not attend regularly--only when the bell choir is playing for services. Next year the church is celebrating its 275th anniversary.
