I resumed study of my family history for the purpose of finally gathering the documents needed to join the D.A.R. I will share more detail with people who directly contact me and mutually agree to document sources and otherwise, respectfully handle the labors of each other and of other researchers. I have a wealth of photographs because my family valued them and a great-grandma was a photographer. I am now a D.A.R. member, with eight Revolutionary War veteran ancestors known so far. Occasionally, as a courtesy, I add a grave of someone I am not related to but is of interest to me or/and I have a family link to that family. Sometimes, I come across a really interesting monument and imagine that someone out there will be thrilled to see it if I take a photo. If a descendant or close relative of those people request it, I will be happy to transfer management of those graves. I rather prefer to hang on to my direct ancestors if I submitted them because I then have the ability to change any information later found that sheds more light on the subject or corrects any error. Be advised that no one has permission to reproduce the photographs published here without my consent. Publication on the internet is still copyrighted and I retain ownership of the images, except for those I reproduced WITH CONSENT of the owner (namely, Judy King.) That includes uploading images to your public family tree that is then reproduced at wild abandon everywhere else without mention of the original source. If you want permission to reproduce one of my photos somewhere else, please ask first. And - please don't copy and paste original text I wrote directly into your own family tree as if you wrote it. That drives me absolutely nuts because it then looks as if I am the one who copied what someone else wrote when in fact, I was the original writer. I am amazed sometimes by the things people do. I am grateful to all the people who posted photographs and information that have helped me and I am thrilled to make contact with others who research the same families. | |

 | RE: Joseph Pawling Laura,
Yes - I believe this is one and the same. Joseph Pawling, Jr. is my 5th GG and my mother (Nancy Decker - 49995) is registered with DAR through that line. I can provide more detail if you have a personal email, but this is what I can tell you.
As the DAR record states, his second wife is Mary (Shannon)Pawling and she is buried with him @ Salem cemetery - also on Find A Grave. There really isn't much of a town in Salem, though there is a Salem in Westmoreland county also which may explain the confusion on county.
According to the "Snyder County Pioneers" he was registered in the 1781 - 1783 census for Philadelphia County, but purchased 300 acres in Snyder County 1794 (the same year his son Samuel - my 4th GG - was born in Salem) about 3 miles west of Selingsgrove. This is very near the cemetery where the 5th and 6th DAR generations are all buried.
My email is "jbrown.geo@gmail.com" and my cell # is 585.267.9988
Thanks for your assistance in helping out with this request!
Best Regards,
Jeff

 | Benjamin Buffington Laura,
Benjamin had moved to the Lykens Valley before 1814. I am in possession of a deed that is signed by Benjamin, and Martin Weaver, legal coucil (and his Captain during the Revolutionary War) in which he sells part of his farm to a Peter Balserman in 1787. He even mentions in the deed, how the property he is selling, abuts his son George's farm. Just thought you would like to know for your records.
Thanks, Dan Buffington

 | Permission to use photo I understand your reluctance to share your photos (etc.) in the cases you mention in your bio. I have an account with Ancestry.com and see the truth of what you say. It makes it difficult for serious genealogy researchers, too. While not a professional, I do practice documentation procedures that adhere to ethical conduct. I always identify the owner of a document or photo that I use for my own personal research. I do believe it would be dishonest not to. I do not publish anything for profit. I am grateful to all the members of Find A Grave who have helped me in my journey. By giving credit to the photographer on Ancestry, that credit gets passed on to anyone who copies the photo from there on.
I would like to use your photo of St. Peters Lutheran and Reformed Cemetery in Rebersburg for my family tree on Ancestry. I like to attach all members of my family to the cemetery where they are buried as a way to organize my tree. There is another photo by another member of the cemetery, but I am asking you first because I like your photo best.
Please consider my request and let me know.
Thank you,

 | Berlins at Starr Laura,
I transfered Nancy and Paul Berlin to you. I also posted headstone pics taken this past weekend.
Paul's pic is not good. I may return to Cemetery again in a few weeks. If so I will try to get a better photo.
