Bio and Links
Bio Photo My earliest memories of childhood include those of listening to the stories and tales of the "older folks," as they sat around reliving the old days. I was like a sponge, memorizing every word, or taking notes on occasion. In 1978, I began a quest for family roots and ties. I tramped mountain cemeteries, searched court houses and libraries, and spoke to my family for their memories. I later used the internet as a tool for research. I have been so blessed, as I have learned of my ancestors, and their joys and trials. But I have also connected with my living family and many other researchers, that I would have never met otherwise. My hobby has shown me where I came from, and helped me to see where I am going! I am so blessed to have such a rich heritage of faith and family!

Based on the info that you sent, is it correct that Jane was only 12 when she married the first time?

Yes, doing research for family and said enough true.

Annie Davis
I found some information about Annie. She was born a Davis. It was probably a second marriage for her also. Do you know any more about her?

RE: Thanks!
Are related to Arthur Davis? I would like to find out more about him. My father, Arthur Pescosolido was named after him. My daughter married a Davis and also named her son born in May, 2015 after Arthur Davis. Two very special people in my life. The original Arthur was a wonderful man. It's amazing that just recently found out about what happened to him. I only knew little. I have been in contact with his granddaughter, Nancy.

I believe that Arthur is the seventh child of theirs. I just linked him today. He was a very special man in my Grandfathers life. My grandfather was still a teenager who had just arrived from Italy when Arthur helped him out. So glad you have put his parents on Findagrave so I can find them.

John Sims Family Cemetery
Hi Vic,

Thank you for your documentation of cemeteries in Greene County, Virginia. Your work is so helpful for those of trying to track down our ancestors.

I've looked at the information you provided about the John Sims Family Cemetery. You cited tax map 13-A-6 for the cemetery, but I believe it is actually 13-A-7 and 7A. The property currently owned by Robert Runkle. The 13-A-6 property should contain the Rhodes family cemetery.

The only marked headstone in the John Sims Family Cemetery is for James P. Sims. There are several flat stone markers. Your writeup stated that you believe that two of the stones mark the graves of James' parents, Elizabeth & John Sims. What is your source of this information? Elizabeth & John are my "great" grandparents.

It appears that there is another Sims cemetery under a large tree in the field across the street from the John Sims property. This cemetery is parcel 13-A-17 owned by Mary & Clarence Shifflett. Have you documented this cemetery?

Thanks for your help! Kathryn Sims Cross

RE: Thanks!
You are welcome for the Harmon pictures. Nancy Harmon seemed to be quite an accomplished woman.

RE: Information
I'm sorry, but no. I remember that there was a sign posted but that was a few years back. Perhaps Jan Hensley would know?
