Hello from New Mexico.|
I've been excavating and cataloging pioneer cemeteries for over 30 years. In the 1980s I even published a few works on the subject. Like most of you, I'm also an avid genealogist. While I enjoy finding the graves of famous people, I'm more interested in the common soldier and pioneer. Every one of them has a story.
As for genealogy, I am currently working on the surnames Trine, Minter, Dozier, Shackleford and Marquez. I'm also collecting the names and graves of the Maryland 6th Infantry.
I'm usually "on the road," so my photos come from wherever I happen to be. I've had the pleasure of meeting hundreds of wonderful people who share this love for history. Contact me if I can be of any help to you.
ABOUT TRANSFERS: I am happy to transfer anyone who is not my direct ancestor.

|Steven Riley||RE: Littleton Parker Ewell|
Thanks for getting back to me in regards to Littleton Parker Ewell, buried in St. Mary's cemetery in Pocomoke, Md. Sorry the police harassed you while in the cemetery. If you'd had a shovel, I could understand them being suspicious, but not a camera and clipboard. Geesh. I'm glad you found my ancestor's grave before they asked you to leave. What an amazing thing it is for you to have found his grave and me to have checked on "find-a-grave" again. I had checked a few years back with no luck finding him. Littleton Parker Ewell was a Confederate soldier in the 39th Va. Inf., but when they disbanded, he went missing and no other information on him has been found til you found his grave. Yes, if no other descendants of his come forward, I would be interested in taking charge of his memorial page. Thanks very much, Eddie. My "find-a-grave" membership number is: #48630833e

I found him through a Pennsylvania veteran's burial card on Ancestry.
And, yes I have Keefer (Kiefer) as the last name for the older children. However, I have Margaret as her first name - according to his son William's death certificate!
And I haven't been able to find where Margaret (Rebecca) is buried. I'm thinking maybe Mt. Zion, since both George Michael & his 2nd (or 3rd) wife, Hester, are buried there. And their daughter Amanda is also buried there.
I've also seen where he might have been married between Margaret (Rebecca) & Hester. To an Elizabeth Yost - with a son John. But I don't know if that's accurate or not.
Don't know if that helps or not, but that's what I have so far. Along with several variations of the spelling - Lightner, Leitner, Leightner!
If you have more information, I'd love to hear from you.

May I put your photos on Ancestry.com with credit given to you? Thank-you, Joni
|Fred Wyrick||Mary Elizabeth (Jarnagin) Harris|
I ask that you correct the spelling of her (maidenname) from JAENAGIN TO JARNAGIN. Close examination of your photo will show this to be correct. Thank you.

|Steven Riley||Memorial for Littleton Parker Ewell|
Littleton Parker Ewell (Memorial #89771240) is my 3rd Gr Grandmother's cousin. He was a Confederate soldier in the Civil War and I never knew where in Pocomoke, Md. he was buried til I came across his burial site that you provided. I am curious as to how you found him and who, if any, of his descendants requested it as I'd like knowing more about his service. Thank you kindly.

|Chris ||Baby Jenks Southfied Cemetery|
Hello Eddie: (Good name it was my father's name). Indeed, there are two baby Jenks buried in Southfield Cemetery. The one that died in 1887 was the child of Oliver and Eva. I made a memorial for him and linked him to his parents. The other baby must belong to Albert. I think we straightened it out. Thanks for getting back to me. Enjoy the holidays...
