Bio and Links
Bio Photo NOTE: As of March 2015, I've made it through surgery and chemotherapy, and the cancer seems to be gone. I'm very hopeful, and very appreciative of all the words of kindness and encouragement.

As of August 2014, I'm dealing with my mother's recent death and my own recent cancer diagnosis. Please be patient with any suggestions / edits you send. Thanks in advance!

[PLEASE read (starting with para. 2) before contacting me about a memorial; it will save us both time and trouble. Thanks!]

I'm a history major and a lawyer (University of Virginia, Emory University;) a fanatic about live music (Todd Rundgren, Gene Owens, the blues;) and a photographer. I'm a wife and a mother (a son who recently graduated from law school at the University of Georgia and a daughter who recently graduated from Tulane.) I have a house full of rescued dogs and cats.

If I'm the caretaker of a memorial for someone who was closer to you than to me, I'll consider transferring that memorial to you; feel free to ask, but please include DETAILS as to your relationship to the deceased.

If you have additional information or links that you want added to a memorial, please send details and DO include links to your SOURCES: I'm unlikely to make additions/links if I can't verify their accuracy

All requests for transfers, all suggestions, and all corrections MUST be sent via the edit tab on the memorial in question. If you use the "Other" option you'll be able to send an explanation of, and links to, your sources for suggested changes to a memorial.

If you need to write me at my email address about something else (e.g., a suggestion or correction I've sent you,) PLEASE include a copy of any relevant correspondence and a link to the memorial(s) in question.

If I've posted a cemetery photograph that you want to use on Ancestry, please feel free to do so IF and ONLY IF you include the entire caption as the photograph description. You MUST get my express permission to use any of my photographs OTHER than those taken in cemeteries.

Grave Photo - Seaborn Milligan
I would like to thank you so much for the grave photo of Seaborn Milligan!! I live north of Atlanta, and it would have been difficult for me to get it. It's so nice of you to take the trouble to do this for people you don't know.

Karle Deck
Hi Ellen,

My Grandafather was Ben Dech. Because the last name is engraved as DecK not DecH on Karle's headstone, I wrote to the cemetery months ago, to see if they could verify that Karle is indeed the son of "my" George and Katherine DecH and have not heard back from them. I would like this verified, before it is published. I never heard or have found anything to say that Karle is indeed related. There are multiple George and Katharine Dech's, Deck's. I will be removing him from my ancestry page until I can get confirmation from the cemetery--which might mean, I will have to take to trip to Spokane.

RE: New forums
Hope you got things sorted with the Facebook group.
The new forums are too sophisticated for this primitive phone. I can't post or do anything much, except Like things :(

RE: New forums
Oh no, surely not, now who's being paranoid! Hope it will be ok today.
I was wrong about the new forums not being much different. They make all other forums look very dated. I may need to ask some questions when I figure out how.

RE: New forums
I'm in, at last! It was your tip about the captchar, which I couldn't see before. Just come back from library where I tried again with Chrome and it worked. No captchar on IE. So relieved to know I wasn't blacklisted. Thank you!

RE: New forums
Thank you Ellen. I just tried again. No captcha, just the words Security Check. Well that explains it, I couldn't understand why i wasn't allowed in, but at least it isn't personal.

As to the lounge, seems it was worse than we knew, and the admins finally lost patience with the troublemakers and the hassle of controlling the bad behaviour. A popularity contest doesn't sound nice, but as long as the bar isn't set too high and it just bars the few who cause trouble.

I feel a bit better now but still missing everybody.

RE: New forums
I'm dismayed to hear there is no lounge. I tried to join, on this phone and at the library, but I failed the security check, whatever that means. Maybe someone should get up a petition for a lounge.

New forums
I hope you will be joining the new forums. I doubt they will be much different to the old forums and I am sure we will all feel quite at home there very soon.

I have made several bio changes and such to those memorials and am in the process of finishing the rest and transferring them back.
Tried to leave the source information on each intact, particularly the credit you gave to the original surveyor. I have also requested photos for each, though I know they are all in the mausoleum.

W A and Georgia Ella Stone, Ozora Church Cemetery
Hi Ellen, just read your bio and so happy that you are cancer free!! Whoohoo. Trust you are doing well. I've just sent or will be sending edits for William Able and his wife, Georgia Ella (Boss) Stone. She is a distant relative of mine - her father is a brother to my 2x great grandfather. Anyway, I found some of the information on Georgia Virtual Vault (death cert. for William) and Ancestry.com. Thanks for all you do on Find A Grave and continued wishes for your health and well being. Joyce
