Bio and Links
Bio Photo I am a bit of a fan of history and I love the history you find in cemeteries. My favorites are the old pioneer cemeteries of the west.

For those of you that are looking for forgotten relatives, loved ones, friends and family, I just want to say to you that I do what I do here on Find A Grave, for you. No one should be forgotten! We may not all be rich, or famous, or powerful, or have invented great things but we all made a difference in some way and we deserve to be remembered for the differences we've made. If just by creating a memorial page, I feel that I have done something to remember that person and that they did live and that they did matter.

The information on the memorials that I have created is only as good as the information I had to work with from the beginning. I am sure that there are many mistakes and I will correct every one that I can but if fellow contributor finds something wrong that still needs to be corrected, please don't hesitate to let me know.

Transfers: If you are interested, just ask! I am not hung up on the policies, all that is important to me is that you are better able to add to the memorial than I am. You don't have to be directly related, just willing and able to make the page better.

Photos: There is no need to ask permission to use the photos that I post unless it is to be for commercial purposes. I take these photographs for you so please, use them as you need to. All that I ask is that you source and credit them properly.

To all the Find a Grave photographers out there: if you have a picture to post that is better than one that I have posted, please do and then let me know. If I agree, I will gladly remove mine in order to avoid cluttering up the memorial page.

Someday I know I'll have my own headstone and if I am lucky enough, this is the epitaph that will be on it: (I didn't write it, but I'll be happy to use it)

The Measure of a Man

Not "How did he die?"
But, "How did he live?"
Not "What did he gain?"
But, "What did he give?"
These are the units
to measure the worth
of a man, as a man,
regardless of birth.
Not "What was his station?
But, "Had he a heart?"
And "How did he play
his God given part?"
Was he ever ready
with a word of good cheer,
to bring back a smile,
to banish a tear?'
Not "What was his church?"
Nor "What was his creed?"
But, "Had he befriended
those really in need?"
Not "What did the sketch
in the newspaper say?"
But "How many were sorry
when he passed away!"

But, at the end of the day, if all my headstone reads is "He was a good man" then, I will be happy with that too!

If you're still reading, maybe you'd like to stop by and say Hi! to some very special friends. They are missed everyday! Belle, Sophie and Casey.

I found some great information on how to take a picture of a headstone. I am passing this site along because I feel that a good, clear picture is always what the viewer wants. Not something that is just good enough. The site is How To Get Great Photos For Find a Grave.

Thanks for stopping by!

Elizabeth Chaffee headstone
Hi Ron, I was shown the grave site of Elizabeth Chaffee by an employee of the cemetery who looked through the records to locate the burial location of Elizabeth Chaffee. It seems a resting slab was laid for a marker, probably to match the one that her husband, Edson E Chaffee, has at his grave site. However the marker was never laid on the slab. Perhaps no relatives were in the area to complete that task? She is laid to rest 4 rows from her husband which also makes it difficult to locate her with only a slab at her grave site. Very sad situation should a family member actually try to find her. So sorry.

Udell Family
Hi, Ron,

Thanks so much for accepting the edits to link this family together. I don't know them, but they connect back to the cemetery in the town where I grew up. Doesn't matter - as you say so eloquently, each of them deserves to be remembered, and to be, once again, a recognized member of their families.

I really appreciate all that you do for find-a-grave - and, especially, your attitude about it. We all need to be a little more humble and realize that, if we choose to go beyond our immediate family, the point of this is to help others.

Take care.

Melissa Belcher
Hi Ron, just got another email from Richard Jordan, he saw that I had claimed the photo assignment and said just to submit it through the existing request and when the two are merged, it will be there. He said that way I'd get credit for it, which I hadn't even thought about. Just letting you know.

Hope your Father's Day was a good one.

I received an email from Richard Jordan to take a photo of Melissa's grave. Not exactly a grave, but where her cremains have been placed. She isn't in San Luis Cemetery anymore, they have moved her out to Los Osos Memorial Park. I don't find her on your list of requests, have you removed it? Richard said that he had requested the memorials be merged, evidently there's a duplicate for Los Osos.

Belle, Sophie & Casey
Before I go on the individual memorial pages to request transfers let me say 2 things.
The memorials for Belle, Sophie & Casey are quite simply the best memorials on the entire site.
And obviously.... you are "a good man".

Hi Ron,

I want to thank you for transferring my uncle. I appreciate it very much.
I also want to thank you for all you do for FindAGrave! Without volunteers like you, so many of us would have no idea where our loved ones were laid to rest! You rock!
