I've been doing genealogy research for about 35 years. I started before you could turn on your computer and do the research from your home. While I enjoy the convenience of using the internet to do research, I still enjoy the more "hands on" approach. I've taken many trips over the years to courthouses, cemeteries, to visit elderly family members, etc. along the way. For me, the online research just doesn't bring the same satisfaction that I feel when I am able to go dig up the information in person. I've enjoyed meeting cousins that I never knew I had, and I've also been able to reconnect with family members that I've lost contact with over the years. This has become a great hobby, and I've enjoyed learning all the interesting stories, both good and bad, about my family history. I hope I have and am playing some small part in getting younger members of my family interested in what came before them.

I'm happy to share whatever information that I have. Feel free to use the grave photos that I've added without contacting me. I've uploaded them for your use. All I ask is that you list where you got the photo along with the cemetery, city, state so others can find the grave if they wish to visit it. I'm happy to take photos of graves in my area for other people and upload them to memorials here. I think of it as a kind of payment for those who have been kind enough to get photos for me. I try to take the kind of photos that I would like to have....well focused, as readable as possible, and a good angle.

As for the more PERSONAL PHOTOS, I'd like to be contacted before anyone adds them to another website or uses them in any other way. I love sharing, but I also like to know where and how my research and/or personal family photos will be used, and I like to know that credit is given to the proper individual(s) if my research or photos are used by others. I feel it's extremely important that future researchers be able to get to original sources of pictures and other documents the same way that I and others did. It's very frustrating to see a supposed photo of someone on the internet, but the person posting the photo doesn't have the original, can't tell you where the original is or any other information about it, and doesn't even know for sure that the photo is correctly identified.

I'm happy to transfer any memorials that don't belong to my family. Just let me know if I am managing a memorial which is of your family member, and I'll get it transferred to you ASAP if I'm not related. I like to see memorials in the hands of family or friends who can add to the memorial and make it the best it can be.

RE: Beulah Combs Spacht
Hi Sabrina,

Millie Griffin is my Great Aunt via her father William Henry Griffin, my Great Grandfather, and his first marriage to George Ann Wilhoit. My lineage is via his 2nd marriage with Rebecca Jane Cornwell, so Beulah Beryl Combs is my 1st cousin 1 x removed.

I never personally knew any of theses folks as I was born in 1951 and only heard a few stories about this family when I was very young. I started my research 5 years ago on and gathered info from other folks along the way and posted photos from my Grandmother's limited collection.

If you look at William Henry Griffin here in Find A Grave, you will see a photo of him and who I believe to be Beulah Combs Spacht sitting next to him. Can you confirm if that is her?

Notes on the back of the photo indicate it was sent to my Grandmother Minnie May Griffin by George Ann (her half sister) and says "Dad with Beulah".

Millie and her half sister Peachie Griffin ran away to Crandon, Forest, Wisconsin when the family left Kentucky around 1904. Millie married Ephraim 16 Jan 1904 and Peachie married Mack Lewis 20 Feb 1904 and he was recorded as widowed in the June 1905 census and later married another.

I don't know if Peachie died or if they were divorced, but I can't find any record of her since that time. I'm assuming Peachie was her true legal name and I don't find her moving to Oregon with Millie and Bum. Do you by chance have any info on her life?

As for Ephraim, besides the story of his involvement in a shooting in W. Virginia before going to Wisconsin, I only know that he spent his life working in saw mills as a laborer and he worked at R&W Lumber Mill in 1940.

One last bit of info; I do have some photos of my Grandmother at the grave site of her father and I believe one other woman in the photo is Millie. I'd be happy to share that photo with you to confirm if it is Millie and her daughter Grace.

My prefered email is If you have access to Ancestry, my family tree is "The Davis Family Tree-3" and these photos are in the profile for Minnie May Griffin.

I must apologize for having more questions than answers for you, but I too would like to fill some gaps in the history of our family!

God bless you,
Johnnie Davis

RE: Thank you!
Sabrina, I enjoy taking photographs in Coos Bay when I am visiting my family. They live about a mile from Sunset Memorial Park. In the case of Beulah Spaght, I was able to obtain a copy of her Burial Card which also had her obituary attached. For Ralph Combs, I have a copy of his Burial Card. I will be happy to forward them on to you if you are interested.

Francis 'Frank' Marion White
This is my 2nd great grandfather. I have been researching the White Family for awhile, but until recently I had my 3rd great grandfather misidentified. He is Sanford M (Marion?) White, born abt 1811 in Kentucky. He married Lucinda Harlan, daughter of Jacob and Sarah Combs Harlan. I know that we must be related and I am wondering if you can offer me any help on Sanford, as I know very little about him before the 1850 census. I have gotten much information about these families from North American Family Histories. Another name that is often mentioned is Bybee/Bibee. I am particularly interested in the Bibee family because my great grandmother, married to William Sanford White is buried by some of the Bibee family in Stroud Cemetery. I cant seem to connect them with the Bybee family in Kentucky. One of the Bybee daughters married Lucinda Harlan's brother, which would connect them to my family (and yours, probably), but I cant directly connect them with the family in Stroud in the 1820's.Sharon Williams

Thanks for your quick response. I am talking to my sister about taking the page and expanding it. I would like to know where the information came from about my grandfathers place of birth if you know

RE: Pearl Lee Rainwater Grave
Of course, Sabrina. By all means, do so. I'm here to assist, so let me know if there are other graves out there you need. I'm only about 5 miles from Indian Creek. Glad I could of service to you.

Trying to find some info
Hi, I stumbled across this site and found the info for my grandfather Mesby Harrison Johnson. I was wondering how you came to include him and if you are a relative of ours. Thanks
