Bio and Links
Bio Photo I have been an avid family history researcher since 1999. I was delighted to stumble across this website. It has enabled me to locate many of my ancestors' headstones in cemeteries that I would never be able to visit in person.

I've had a long love of cemeteries. They evoke a sense of calmness and peace and contain a wealth of information. My paternal grandmother instilled both this and the love of family history and its preservation. Many blessings.

RE: Little help here
Sorry I am late replying as well. We've been really busy with the new baby and I haven't been able to do much research myself. All I really know about Opal was she had 3 kids ( maybe more, that's all I know of ). I called her son Homer and he told me he never heard of any any Native Americans in our family. He said he knew Lilburns parents were Henry and Elizabeth. He said Opal's dad was Bill Riley ( not sure if that's short for William or not ) and her mother was Susan Elkins. I will ask my mom if she knows any of her aunts or uncles from that side of the family. I only remember visiting Opal a few times when I was young so there's nothing that really sticks out to me. I'll see what I can come up with and THANK YOU for all your help. My family is divided on this. Mom thought she was 1 kind of indian, my uncle said a different tribe, and now her own son said he knows of no native americans in the family. My grandmother Janet ( Opal's daughter ) looked like an indian. dark complected and long black hair. Maybe that's how the rumor ( if it is indeed a rumor ) got started lol.

Little help here
I seen in a post you made on my site that you are a self proclaimed genealogy nerd. Well, I am needing an experts help lol. I am trying to trace down my Native American roots and can't find anything. Do you know anywhere I can look to find info ? My g grandmother was 1/2 Indian and I'm trying to find out her parents name and tribe etc. her. And was Opal Ferguson ( maiden name was Riley ). Any help would be appreciated

It was my pleasure. I loved your mom to death. Her and Clyde were always so fun to be around. I remember staying there as a kid and watching tv and having some of Clyde's famous milkshakes. If you would like I can send you her memorial to manage. I just wanted to make sure she had one on here.

You're welcome, I included a shot of her husbands' stone which you can enlarge by clicking on it. There is another stone here of Wealthy Stone, his second wife.
