Local history and genealogy have become a huge love of mine... I am learning the great importance of documenting everything in our history, and the hope of it never being lost. I really enjoy the "difficult" searches, and have no problem walking 5 different cemeteries, or random fields searching for a missing grave. I am more than willing to visit the local museums if need be.. I hope my contributions on here make a difference in your family search. I would also be more than happy to transfer any memorials to you, so feel free to ask..|
Always Researching My Ancestors:
Kuhlmann, Holtzen, Gehle, Keorwitz,
Weers, Ahrens, Schleufer, Kraft,
Sieders, Block, Grundmann, Degner
Your tombstone stands among the rest,
Neglected and alone.
The name and date are chiseled out
on polished marble stone.
It reaches out to all who care,
It is too late to mourn.
You did not know that I exist.
You died and I was born.
Yet each of us are part of you,
In flesh, in blood, in bone.
Our blood contracts and beats a pulse,
Entirely not our own.
Dear Ancestor, the place you filled,
So many years ago.
Spread out among the ones you left,
Who would have loved you so.
I wonder if you lived and loved.
I wonder if you knew.
That someday I would find this spot.
And come to visit you.

Note: please check out the Sandy Knob Cemetery in Thayer County Nebraska for our restoration project!! We are hoping to raise enough money to put a memorial marker at the site listing all burials.

Hi, I am not a relative so did some digging. Found and added the obits for Homer and Cora. Homer's didn't mention anything about Munden, but Cora's said they lived there before moving to Emporia (#117262733). Also, one of her brothers was living there at the time of her death. I'd say that is pretty convincing evidence, without something actually in writing saying they lived at that address. Isn't this fun, piecing the puzzles together?! Becky

Hi Jennifer, I'm related on the wife's side, but really don't know about their home. That is nice you're trying to find out about the families who lived there before you! Is it in Munden or out in the countryside? Most of the family were farmers, some moved to town when they retired maybe. It'd be neat to find a photo of what it looked like back then! Sorry I couldn't be more help. Luella
You're welcome. It was a great day to do it.

Hi Jennifer - Would like your permission to use a copy of your gravestone photo of Adelaide Macy #74287183 for my family history. Seems I may have to solve a problem because she also has a gravestone photo on her memorial #20429539. Guess they could have moved her but you would think that if they did, they would have moved the stone also. Thanks for your consideration. Bill Macy.

Thank you for contributing the photographs of the graves of my great-grandfather, Abner Raynor Sherrill, and his family in The cemetery at Morrowville Kansas. He had two other two children, Thomas Oliver Sherrill, born Jan. 23, 1873 and died August 17, 1940, in Brownell Kansas. He and his family are buried in Vansburgh Cemetery in Brownell, Kansas. Abner also had a daughter, Mattie Sherrill Emery, who was married to Roy Emery.
