In the spring of 2010, I became interested in finding out more about my father's family. My g-g-g-g grandfather, John P Lyle, settled in Paulding Co, Georgia, sometime before 1840. It is thought that he received land in the 1832 land lottery of the Cherokee lands. I worked on the LYLE family tree and then started looking for the graves of my extended family. I spend the majority of my time looking for graves in Paulding County and the counties that surround Paulding. This has been a very rewarding experience now that I am semi-retired. I have to give credit to my brother, Tom 'CC' Lyle, and to my second-cousin, Dianne Eberhardt, for allowing me to use a lot of their genealogy research information in several of my FAG memorials. | |

 | RE: JAMES HENRY LYLE
JAMES HENRY LYLE
Hi Sandy,
I couldn't get this email to reply ('domain failure' it said) so I'll to copy/paste to your page.
James Henry LYLE's son PLEASANT OR PRESTON CARLEN "CARL" LYLE (actually he is standing next to your John E. Lyle in funeral pic), his son James ''Joseph '' William Lyle (Carl & Joseph are both in that funeral pic; I underlined it - see below) and then his daughter is my Grandmother Florence Lyle Rice (born 1912) and her daughter Bettye Rice Hall, then me, Janet Lynn Hall! I copy/pasted the writing that accompanied that pic, see below. I forget how I received the picture copy.
If you have an ccount with http://www.ancestry.com log-in and click on the 'mail envelope' on the left of your name to request I let you look at my Tree.. but the link directly to JHLYLE is http://trees.ancestry.com/tree/3764394/person/-1689621083 But if you still can't see it (and doubt it) and oyou really want to, I'll send you my name and password (write directly: halljanetlynn@yahoo.com)
Truly, Janet L Hall: halljanetlynn@yahoo.com
The funeral picture was taken at the Lyle home which is actually in Paulding County not too far from Beulaland Baptist Church,Yorkville, Georgia. James H. Lyle is buried at Pleasant Grove Methodist Church, Haralson County Georgia. This is about one half mile from the Haralson County line. Pleasant Grove Methodist Church, Haralson County Georgia is located a few yards from the county line. The two men standing right next to the casket are, T. J. Biggers(Preacher at the Pleasant Grove Church) on the left of the casket and Ben McGarity(I believe was the funeral directer) on the right of the casket. The men standing behind the seated women, starting from the left , John E. Lyle, Carl Lyle, Tom Lyle, Joesph Lyle, and Joe Lyle. These were all sons of James H. Lyle. The last two Joseph Lyle and Joe Lyle could be wrong as my grandfathers memory of these two were a little confused. The seated older women closest to the casket was James H. Lyle's wife GeorgeAnn Williams(maiden name) The other seated women were the daughters of James H. Lyle starting from the left: Matilda White, Sally Austin Dean, Lude Vinson, and Georgia Mathis. (married names) James H. Lyle and his son John E. Lyle were in the civil war. Both were in Company K, Floyd Legion.

 | RE: Question about Josiah Houston Harper Hi Sandy, Lucinda was indeed his wife. Are you a descendant of the Harpers? If so, I published a book, Heartbreak of a Civil War Widow, which has the Harper history traced back to England in the 1500s, I believe it was. It has Josiah's family, his father, brothers, spouses, children, dates of birth, marriage, death, etc. My gr, gr, grandmother was a sister to Josiah Harper and she watched her husband, three sons and three brothers go off to war with the 1st AL Union Army while 2 or 3 of her brothers joined the Confederacy. She lost her husband, one son and 3 or 4 brothers, I can't remember, right now. Thanks for writing.Added by GMT on Mar 31, 2013 2:18 AM | | | Mary Casey
