Hello: My name is Bill Kazupski and I am a resident of the City of Chicago. I live on the far south side of Chicago, blocks from a few of the south and southwest Chicago suburbs.|
I come from a family of Chicago police officers. My father spent over 30 years with the force and both my brothers and I am currently a Chicago police homicide detective and have been with the Chicago police department for over 25 years. My mother is a nurse and my one sister works for Loyola Hospital.
I enjoy being a volunteer with Find-A-Grave because it allows me to get my walking exercise in while helping others. Kind of killing two birds with one stone as they say.
The following cemeteries are within walking distance from my residence:
Chapel Hill Gardens (South)
Holy Sepulchre Cemetery
First Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery
Burr Oaks - Due to this cemetery digging up burial plots and dumping the coffins and bodies, this cemetery is the focus of national media and news outlets. It is a historical black cemetery operated by African Americans. It is currently shut down to the public as the criminal investigation is in progress. (Update: This cemetery has re-opened under new management)
Feel free to e-mail with any requests for these cemeteries.
Good Luck To All!

thank you William. I appreciate your looking this up for me.

Omg… I never thought about that. You are a big thinker. But can you please look up John Kenney on that Catholic computer anyways. So I can say I tried looking for him. If I can’t find him I think I’m going to write what you said about the Chicago Fire in my family tree book. By the way our family is going to buy a grave stone for Margaret Thurman wife of Meridy. Thank you again for telling me that Meridy didn’t have a gravestone. We got his Military gravestone last July from the Gov. 108 years later. I just found out he was a Commander of the GAR, Gen Edward Hatch post 713., on 47th Ashland Ave. in 1896. Thank you for all you help…Talk to you soon. Your new best friend, Laurie

So sorry I haven't had a chance to thank you yet for the above man's headstone photo. I was out of town working and just checked my email now. He was one of three South Africans who lost his life in Vietnam.

Dear Mr. Kazupski,
Thank you for taking the time to go to the cemetery and photograph my great-grandmother's grave. I have been researching my maternal grandparents' history for my mom. Your photo gives us comfort in knowing Maggie rests with her mother and sister.
Thank you again for your time and effort.

Bill, I hope I'm not overwhelming you with transfers. It turns out there are quite a few officers who died in the line of duty over the years where I added memorials for them. And I'm not finished adding memorials, either. I'm only back to the late 1920's. I'm doing all the research I can over the internet for each one, but I won't be offended if you change the bios as you see fit.
I found an interesting website database put together by the Northwestern University School of Law that covers Chicago homicides for the years 1870-1930.
I live in Oklahoma, and we've never had violence directed specifically toward law enforcement like there has been in Chicago.

I have added some memorials for fallen Chicago Police Officers. Would you mind if I transferred them to you for management?

Hi, My husband and I found the gravesite at the Saint Boniface Cemetery in Chicago last week when we were in town for the day. We had the Sec. no. and Lot through the cemetery listing. Thanks again for your effort. J.Grummitt
