Bio and Links
Bio Photo Hi, my husband (Steve Patterson) and I are interested in our genealogy histories and enjoy the "detective process" of finding our ancestors. After unexpectedly finding images of my great-grandparents' tombstones on the web, I was thrilled - I'd never seen their tombstones before. This helped us to realize that documenting cemeteries on the web is a wonderful way to help other genealogists find their relatives. We enjoy this tremendously and have started planning our vacations around which cemeteries we want to visit.

I am leaning on the tombstone of Alpheus Osborn, my great-great-great grandfather who lived in Fairfax, Iowa.

If you are a close relation to any people that we have listed and would like us to transfer the memorial to you, please let us know. Be sure to include the CEMETERY NAME where they are located and your FAG MEMBERSHIP NUMBER!

Curtis J Olds. I wanted to let you know that I have added your tombstone photo of Mr. Olds and family to my husband's family tree. If this is not okay, please let me know and I will remove it.
Thank you,

Thank you!
Hi Cathy, I really appreciate you transferring my great grandparent's memorials (Allen and Minnie Lawless) over to me. I can start adding info and linking other family to them. Thank you for your kindness and for maintaining their sites.
Blessings, Cherie

RE: Bena Lyon, Wheaton, KS
I found out today that Bena's actual name was Jaquabeana (not sure if spelling is correct). It looks like her family called her "Bean." Her family was living in Winnebago County, Illinois in 1870 and 1880. She and most of the family was born in Scotland. Her dad died in Winnebago County, IL in 1890.
I know what you're up against searching for an AWOL grandfather! My husband was given to the neighbors by his birth mother or parents. He had at least 2 siblings that he has never met. He was 15 before he found out that he was not raised by his birth parents. I've tracked down his deceased birth parents, but have not found the siblings.
Thanks for making the change on Bena and good luck in your search.

Bena Lyon, Wheaton, KS
Hi Cathy,
While searching for all "Lyon" graves in Pottawatomie County, KS, I saw one in Wheaton Congregational Cemetery (#30047472) that you had added for a "Jena" Lyon. Guessing that her birth date was too early for the name Jena, I clicked on it to see if it might be Bena Lyon, mother of my great uncle John Lyon. Moss on the first letter disguised it a bit, but I am pretty sure that it is Bena, the name found with various spellings on several census records. Will you take a look at it again? If you agree, you can change it.
There is an Ancestry family tree that has her with the maiden name Patterson. She was born in Scotland. Is she possibly related to your husband?
Thank you for taking the photo and for considering making the change.

RE: Rattlesnake Kate
Cathy - if you are receiving multiple answers it is because my computer is acting out this morning. The message "diaappears' before I am finished with it and hitting send. Aarugh! anyway your memory serves you correctly. It was Mizpaw. I thought it was a strange name - but believe that it is Biblical [Judges] states that MISPEH is the location of the 'watchtower' where people went to make covenants that they intended to keep. Guess nothing is as final as the covenant of death! Sandi - THANKS AGAIN. I want to go back to CO [no near relatives left now] and see the Greeley Museum. Perhaps could send an "ex" sister-in-law -- as Kate was her blood relative!
